From Centrebet,

"Betting on the Federal Election is the tightest it has been for two years, according to Centrebet. The Coalition is 1.72 to win a fifth successive term in office and Labor is 2.00 to regain power".

I think you'll find that Gwydir, if that's the seat you're thinking about, is a very safe National seat and as far away from Sydney as you can get in NSW.

Apart from that, you're right. However, I doubt if the Sydney seats are going to be where the election will be won or lost.

My bad, all I'm thinking of John kerins old seat and a host of inner South West seats that are all "Blue ribbon" Labor but because aspirational voters are moving in to the old fibro areas of Sydney they are going to preferences now rather than straight wins to the Labor party...

AS Phil points out the traditional lib seats are swinging towards Labor....

You're thinking of Werriwa, which was Gough Whitlam's old seat (and Mark Latham's!).

"What is Tragedy"

Postby TroyGFC » Sun Feb 11, 2007 7:32 pm

What is Tragedy"
Prime Minister John Howard was visiting a primary school and he visited
one of the classes. They were in the middle of a discussion related to
words and their meanings. The teacher asked the Prime Minister if he would
like to lead the discussion on the word "tragedy". So the illustrious
leader asked the class for an example of a "tragedy".
One little boy stood up and offered: "If my best friend, who lives on a
farm, is playing in the field and a tractor runs over him kills him, that
would be a 'tragedy'". "No," said Howard, "that would be an accident."
A little girl raised her hand: "If a school bus carrying fifty children
drove over a cliff, killing everyone inside, that would be a tragedy."
"I'm afraid not," explained the Prime Minister "That's what we would call
a great loss."
The room went silent. No other children volunteered. John searched the
room. "Isn't there someone here who can give me an example of tragedy?"
Finally, at the back of the room, a small boy raised his hand...In a quiet
voice he said: "If the aeroplane carrying you and Mrs Howard was struck by
a "friendly fire" missile and blown to smithereens, that would be a
tragedy. "Fantastic!" exclaimed John Howard. "That's right. And can you
tell me why that would be a tragedy?"
"Well," says the boy "It has to be a tragedy, because it certainly
wouldn't be a great loss and it probably wouldn't be a accident either."

I think a fine eg of John Howard having lost it (if he ever had it) was on Australia Day when he asked a recipient of an award for being a mathematics genius which part of the world he came from (he had an Asian appearance).
"Adelaide sir".

Li'l Johnny Howard in the news today condemning African American Democratic Presidential Candidate Barak Obama...
Could that classic case of 'Little Big Man Syndrome' be more firmly wedged up President George W. Bush's clacka or what?
He's too busy trying to please that Texan halfwit that he completely ignores what's going on, or the needs of his own country!
I'm not a very political person, but one thing I do hate is a f'n suckup little tossa like our Prime Minister!
Piss that four eyed little garden gnome off!
Swapping the 'Union Jack' in our flag's top left corner for 'Old Glory'... Bugger that!
Australia doesn't wanna be the U.S.A's 51st State! :x

Howard knows that if he wins the next election his good mate peter will do a keating and try to take over being Prime Minister. The Lib's are screwing themselves out of the next election by F*cking everything up in this country. Howard said interest rates would stay low un the Libs and they have gone up.
