Lol, I also forget or overlook things as well. Surely this is now just turning into a bad series of events. The problem is at the time Heydon looked like a good choice for this witch hunt. He has a respectable cv after all, no issues there but he is close to the Liberals and whilst that makes him the ideal choice for this purpose, its now blowing up and looking like a union witch hunt with a Liberal boy running it.

Clearly the unions shouldn't be under estimated. They have seen what this is about and serched for the red flags and found them. I guess they are prepared to fight fire with fire.

And in the end what did his war on the unions and Labor achieve. Nothing really but a waste of more money.

Abbott proposing to remove public interest litigation from the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act in yet another move putting his mining buddies' interests ahead of everything else.

A few months ago it looked highly likely the Liberals would retain government. Now it looks a long way back. I don't feel like Labor deserve it and I don't think the Liberals have been as bad as Labor the previous 6 years but I'm certainly disappointed not to see more positive progress.

Whoever wins, I hope any hard decisions made (boat policy springs to mind) aren't undermines purely for votes. It's a worrying trend that a new government feels the need to take a sledgehammer to some things simply to keep the rhetoric from the opposition days consistent. Good policy wins out. If the boats start coming again under any future Labor government, it'll be an easy vote winner for the liberals. Better to be branded inconsistent with good policy than have charts and numbers broadcast ad nauseum.

I also hope we turf out the micro and pseudo opposition groups from parliament. At least Palmer has gone quiet and you think he'll find a new hobby pretty soon. But we've got Lambie, Muir, Lazarus and a couple others to put up with a while longer. Not sure I could stomach many more. Although a few less greens trying to get some of their unworkable policies done with schoolyard blocking tactics would be nice.

The fact that asylum seeker arrivals is even a political wedge is a blight on us.

And the boats haven't stopped coming. Those offshore gulags are still full.

$55 Million to have four refugees resettled in Cambodia. It's good having the grown ups back in charge and looking after the money. :? :

If it lands on your desk you should really read!

As I said a country in the 1940's had something like that.
