So its only for the one dayers? How much do you go for?

I was meant to be captaining the C's last season so I wasn't on the list, I still came under the "wild card" that went for $300. I captained the B's the year before and went for about $400.
Raed Hannun and Damian Newman usually go for the most, two seasons ago, Ray Bickle went for $50 and he got the first two MOTM's netting his owner over $1300.

Bloody hell you would make more money doing that than having a gentlemens night..
might have to organise something like that for us this year..

Where do people have this money!

Raed has gone for around $800 for memory, we know about four weeks in advance when the auction is and they have until 1pm on the day of the first one-dayer to pay up.
Syndicates are normally formed, not many players are brought by just one person.

I have the spreadsheets, rules and formats somewhere saved on my pc here at work, I can easily make alterations and forward them on , it's win/win, the only way to lose money is by letting people not pay up, you expose them and put the sheet up in your club, they soon get embarrased and fix it up.

It works well with the PDCA concept, we have the auction on the 2nd week of the 3rd round, it gives punters a chance to assess the form and gives them 3 weeks to fix up the money. The 7 one-dayers are during the lead-up to x-mas and then during January then it's back into the 2 dayers.
It works better in the one-dayers as there are no dead rubbers (2nd innings) where players can quite often pick up charity points.

This thread will be locked as of July 30, we will open a new thread for the 2009/2010 season. This coincides with the PDCA AGM that will be held on July 29, is there any predictions in the set up for the new season or do you think we'll remain 8 teams per division with not much change.
The majority of clubs want 20/20 in there some way, is there any ideas that could get this off of the ground?

I think 20/20 has a place in the PDCA but not sure on the format or where it will be placed in the calander.

Could make it a knock-out comp, we're not too fazed, we still have our 20/20 comp that will go ahead this year.

What about juniors? Anyone have thoughts on Sunday cricket?

I hear NEJCA are writing to PDCA/Clubs to offer this option.

Just how it reads mate - NEJCA will write to all PDCA junior clubs (PDCA are aware I believe) to offer a Sunday comp to them. Great idea I reckon. PDCA is just about the only metro cricket comp left without Sunday junior cricket and its slowly losing teams - NEJCA goes from strength to strength on the back of Sunday cricket. If I were running a club I'd be looking very seriously at this option.

We were keen in putting an under 17 team in for Sunday's last season. To be honest with you though, after having friday night juniors, saturday morning juniors and then afternoon seniors, sunday is a day of family and leisure. Most PDCA clubs are survived by one or a handful of people, it does get a bit much to back it up on a sunday morning.

I agree - give back the Friday and Saturdays, kids cricket on Sundays only would be ideal. You may find more volunteers actually present themselves on a Sunday because they have that time to give.

It works for footy - seniors on Saturday, juniors on Sunday.

You're on the money there, Saturday's are exhausting, the hour and a bit in between games are the busiest period of the day, you have to get the kids awards sorted and then finalize the senior sides, it leaves no time for a quiet beer.

All it takes to get off the ground is to speak to Grigs (SW), Joss (SN) & Phil (PG) and you can set your own one up, it worked a treat with us, nice and local, it brought 3 clubs closer together and everyone raised a bit of easy money.
In round one Eastern Park got bowled out for 40 odd & Craigmore got the runs in about 4 overs, a heap of spectators asked if they could have a hit so we had a 3rd game for the day, it was a great day.

We've got a couple of older blokes do our cooking, they get a carton of cider on their way and my missus has all of the food cut up and ready to go so they can just put whatever the consumers need on them. They do a great job and they take a lot of pride in delivering a great feed. They have signed themselves on for the forthcoming season, hopefully the under 13 friday night comp goes ahead, this way we're making coin every week.
