I always loved playing at Two Wells, park on the wing under the trees and try hit your team mates a few catches or clear the trees, boring day for the pleb of the team to have to go over the other side of the ground to do the scoring.........................................I could still hear my team mates though.

News from the CUCC crisis meeting:

The Units going into PDCA meeting tonight with barely 2 sides on paper, only 3-4 of them are A grade players, besides Picton all had ordinary years in Grade 2 so they are hoping to go to Grade 3 and LO1, or LO1 & LO2.

If the league forces them to stay in Grade 1, the club will withdraw its nominations and fold.

Pretty full on and sad.

It'll be interesting to see how the exec proceed with this one - at the AGM it was mentioned if a club nominates sides then later pulls one because a lack of players, regardless of what players are left, it'll be the bottom graded side removed first - not the top.

Also puts a little strain on other clubs - Adel Warriors have gone to ATCA and Salis North have opted against fielding a two day side this year, so someone may be forced to play in a higher grade to fill the gaps without earning it, which may be to the detriment of that club.

Perhaps the time is right for PDCA to explore the 6 team per grade option.

You've stolen the model off of me!!!!!

Need's a 2 year introductory though, PGCC would be filthy about going down.

F**k em, i'd be more filthy being a club forced up, than a club being forced down!

Once again, it’s pretty sad what’s happening at CU and you don’t like seeing it happen to any club.. Especially one that has been cricket strong for many years! As this benefits us massively though, I am not complaining

The real question now is, who opens from the top end? Woody or Benny Mcmullen? Going to be a great year of cricket :)

Thought Benny was only if Riverside went down? What happens if they stay in Grade 1 with Units opting out?

Yeah initially that was the plan, but ben and Woody were both out with a couple of us Friday night and obviously we were all talking about it, I think they both agreed to each other to come across and play this year at EP no matter what happens! Perfect time for it while we are coming off an undefeated premiership, both of them 2 are in their prime

Do the Sections still work?

A dominant batter or a dominant bowler leaving have such a huge impact on a team's performance.

Does it need to be that if a club has one team they are entered in the B Grade competition.

If a club has two teams they enter a B and an A Grade team.

If a club has three teams they enter a B, A and a C Grade team. Second C Grade team for any clubs with 4 teams.

Haven't looked at the practical implications of this btw.

Are you in the right thread TC?

The "section" comment has thrown me out.

If so, generally our promotion/relegation works, there is always a club or two each season that drops off considerably with some top end players departing, it ebbs and flows, they end up re-emerging again.

Juniors is a big problem nowadays, under 16's is almost non existent, numbers for 14's seem to be strong though, the clubs with the better junior numbers seem to be the healthiest in the seniors.

Another example of clubs falling apart due to no juniors, the Units used to have a strong junior program for a long time, as did Smithfield.

Eastern Park junior numbers have fallen to pieces, ATCO have none, only Angle Vale, Craigmore and Salisbury West are sustainable in junior cricket, need to look at the Barossa concept for 16's for a seachange.

Good luck this season regardless, I'd be chucking money on guys to win the flag, the bloke with the surname that contains every letter of the alphabet twice will be full of beans showing off in front of his new baby, can you post your likely batting line up?

CUCC to remain in Grade 2 without player restrictions.

OTH to Grade 3 with player restrictions.

4 x 8 team two day grades.

2 x LO1's consisting of 6 teams each.

LO2 & LO3 to have 7 teams each with a crossover.

21 days of play in the top 4 grades, 20 in the bottom 4.

Well this will be interesting, based on that would suspect we (Enfield) will be bumped up to Grade 2.

2x LO1's? How does that work lol?

Cheers mate should be a good year, hopefully we go close! Yeah he’s full of beans on the best of days, can only imagine what he will be like this season haha

1.Morris
2.Tuckwell
3.Diedrichsen
4.Mcmullen
5.Woodward
6.Williamson
7.Mciver
8.Banks
9.Freeman
10.Knapp
11. will either be andrews or Smith depending on a few things, bottom 4 usually gets flicked around depending on the situation

Pretty strong bowling line up will match that also, should be good!

Dunno, just a glorified way of putting it at a guess, the LO's are a bag of licorice anyway, I may even suit up for my annual itchy feet game where I get pissed on the Thursday night and tell the missus how good I was then find myself rushing about on the Saturday looking for my whites.
