Possibly a little unfair on club/clubs needing an outright to make the finals.

No more unfair than the overall structure of the program though - in many rounds teams were denied the opportunity to gain outrights as the matches were programmed as one-dayers. This round becomes no different to those.
Cheers

Every season these things happen, it is unfair, but this was programmed as a two dayer and some teams would have been expecting a two dayer to push for the finals.

It is now 1.45 pm rain stopped, unlikely to be anymore today, expect some starts.

The issue is - if teams get away later today as a 2-dayer a draw comes heavily into the equation - given the match is likely to go no more than 120 overs. Those converted to a one-dayer are playing for a result and more likely to get the full 20 points. Given there is only 10 points between 3rd place and 6th - it is a fair advantage to those who can play a one-dayer instead of start later today.

If just 1 game gets underway today then all games are 2 day games. Even the ones with no play today. The games with no play today would just be 112 overs to be bowled. No restrictions, no declarations.

Woodville v Glenelg already abandoned today from what I heard from a Glenelg contact.

Thanks for the clarification. I didn’t realise that. Win toss, bowl first I guess. Looks like all other games underway except Woodville vs Glenelg. Glenelg could be the unlucky ones.

.. and West Torrens the unlucky ones in the 2nd Grade. Uni had Prospect 6/28 a short while ago whilst the West Torrens/East Torrens match had not commenced.

Few blokes from West Torrens and Southern on here. Southern won’t be a club next year and wt have sucked since Kelvin left.

If half of you blokes played as well as you typed you’d be Bradmans

Nomination for the most ridiculous post for 2021!!

Hope your other 28 posts were not of the same intelligence!

This is a forum to discuss Grade cricket, read it if you want and you might learn something from people who know what they are talking about. Otherwise just take your stupid comments and pi55 off.

If not for the “Eagles” people would be no comments on here at all, besides knowledgeable people like Tony Clifton, Heater, Minimum Chips, The Hound, etc. who have good intell also.

Won’t even comment on the post as does not even deserve a response!

Travis Head took out some frustration on the Port Adelaide attack by the looks.

Good that the Redbacks all played today but it always seems a bit odd that playing grade cricket is seen as "punishment" for a poor performance. Still, you'd rather they played that not played at any time so take what you can get I guess. And if they sit out of grade cricket they get criticised too

Would or should SACA have some considerations around a draft type placement of players coming from interstate who are contracted going to the clubs with most need rather than the top clubs? If they are contracted then getting paid from the district club wouldn't be a consideration.
This might help equalise and may improve these types of players if they have to carry more of the load.

I don't think it would work. Players moving from interstate would be giving up a lot, surely they must have a say in where they are going. Unless the player is exceptional they would have to show form at a club before they get a contract. They wouldn't want to be seen as a remedy to our premier league problems. Just makes lazy clubs lazier. No thank you.

Last finals spot is down to the wire! SD hanging on for a draw with Sturt, must be 1-2 overs left and 9 down. WT are 7/199 with only a few overs left in the day. If SD hang on and WT and ET draw - WT should go through. ET take the last 3 wickets and they go through. ET and WT draw and Sturt win and the Blue are through. Amazing end to the season!

Edit: SD and Sturt just drew....

Been following all day while working. What an epic finish to the minor round! In the end, the rain did the right thing by the Eagles, but some hard fought draws for it to happen. A great innings by Patrick Fisher who is having a terrific season. Spencer Johnson always does well when it matters also. Solid all-round contributions by Short and Drew. Even Glenelg had to battle hard to win and ensure finals. Former Eagle great Ben Higgins’ son making a major contribution to that victory.

To top it all off, the number 11 batsman for Southerns whose three clubs seasons were hinging upon was called Riddle. And Sturt couldn’t solve it!

I presume West Torrens 2nd Grade got through too? They beat ET, but Uni thrashed Prospect. Not sure if they caught the Eagles on percentage?

By my calculations, we just snuck through ahead of Uni in the 2nd Grade. That must really irk that poster named 'Spiderman' ;)

Also a nice piece of karma when uni couldn't get up a decent pitch last week when Torrens had to bat.
