643 runs at 71 this season. 154*, 93 and 100 in last three knocks. There is definitely an opening position up for grabs alongside Henry Hunt for the Redbacks. Would love to see Capel be given an opportunity when in form.

He would surely have to be considered for a Rookie deal at the very least.

SACA - please stop wasting time with recycling players who failed at their home states thinking they'll make it playing for SA. If they fail playing 1st class cricket at their home state they'll fail playing for SA.

These are the types of kids you should be putting effort into. Rant over!

Capel, Kelly and King must get rookie deals at least next season or what is the point of grade cricket?

I see another young player has made an SA squad who moved from interstate in Medew-Ewen and I take nothing away from him, but how many other states fail so spectacularly in finding talent with in.

From an outside perspective these last 10 years especially spell the dire need for an over gaul to the system

Not sure if your being sarcastic...…...but are you saying other states may have got it wrong because they didn't identify a talent we have...…

Shield cricket history would suggest its us getting wrong more than often.

Adelaide University need to have a good look at themselves .. the second day of the B grade was played on a wet wicket! When the opposition are batting and a finals spot is on the line they have crossed the line.

That is very poor and as there is video evidence of the wicket I would suggest there needs to be a SACA response if they want people to take grade cricket administration seriously.

What happened in the first grade was Karma ... !!

1st grade was amazing. Looked like fizzling out to a draw, Johnson takes 3 in 4 balls and now if the Eagles win next round they play finals uni looked disinterested in chasing the total for much of the day and then left themselves too big a task in the last hour.

One of the most incredible finishes I have ever seen in any grade of cricket at Henley today. Uni 3/303 chasing 366 with about 8/9 overs to go, lost 7/16 in a euphoric win for the Eagles. Crowd went berserk and even the Eagles scorer lept high out of his seat when the final wicket was taken. Unfortunately Spencer Johnson's last wicket celebration wasn't captured on 'The Frog' as it went on that far and wide (justifiably). A win for the ages!

Was following the score at Henley throughout the day. Knowing a draw was no good for West Torrens, but would give Uni the edge over Kensington for the minor premiership. Bosisto and Kerber batted slowly, but well, Murphy Short the pick of the bowlers in the 1st session. Uni remained 2 down for most of the day, but a win for either side seemed unlikely. I tuned in again on the live stream at 4/300 odd with about 7 overs left in the day. Still thinking the draw was almost certain. 3 and a half overs later it was all over with Spencer Johnson clean bowling the opposition with ball 1, 2 and 4 of his 20th over. Persistence paid off for Johnson and his team. The Quinn-Isaac Cup and a finals spot on the line for West Torrens and East Torrens next week.

Sturt are on 135 points, Premiership table not added in their 20 points from yesterday yet. Tight four way battle now for two spots.

Long term forecast has fair bit of rain for Saturday which throws another cat amongst the pigeons!

Any know if Ryan King from East Torrens was suspended from last week's match vs Southerns?

After being belted by Shaun Tanner he proceeded to kick the stumps over, no apology to umpire, just let him fix them up.

Been automatic one game suspension in the past.

Heard rumour was reprimanded which would be a joke!

Footage at 05.48.20 on 1st day, not tech savvy enough to post it

You're twenty minutes early there mate, happened at 05.48.20ish.

Yes, pretty piss poor, it was a very average spell of bowling so I don't know what else he could've expected, he was lucky that Tanner waited as long as he did to milk enough runs each over without over-doing it to enable him to go to town on him to eclipse the half century, clever batting.

Not the first time he's done it. I remember seeing this and having a laugh at the time and was wondering the same thing after round 6 (https://matchcentre.premier.saca.com.au ... deo=881738 ). Don't know if he got reported then either?

If he didn't bowl long hop tripe, he wouldn't get pumped, and wouldn't need to kick the stump. :P

Highly doubt he would have been reported that day. That umpire never reports anyone.

It’s one of those decisions of whether you go back to a fairly mediocre performer at first class level or play a kid on gut feel who is in the form of his life, just in case you unearth something.

Hopefully Weatherald can up his performance, put his position beyond doubt and get talked about for Australian honours. A very good T20 player who needs to put it together in the long form, otherwise find someone else.
