Rumour Woodville and Southerns agreed not to turn up this Saturday. Southerns won on 1st innings and outright to either team does not affect the ladder. Not sure what SACA would think of this??

Pretty poor attitude if true

Why? A result has been reached, neither team can go up or down from here.

SACA approved it, not really any different to calling it off at lunch.

Still has a bad smell about it in my opinion.

Agree, don't like it at all.

Teams can get on the pi55 next weekend!

Guys like Barrett, Hatchett, Andrews, etc could have big days out that could force their way into Team of the Year at Bradman Medal.

Normally not allowed to call off game until Tea time also.

So will grade cricket finals have to be played at empty stadiums due to coronavirus? :D

My son plays for a grade club, and is currently on honeymoon in Japan. Returns this weekend via Singapore, and is hoping to play in the first week of finals....... his work has already asked him to not go in for 14 days on his return to the country. He will speak to the "powers that be" at his club to find out where he stands!

Think you will find the last round is lunch break and all other rounds is tea break.

Do players care that much about team of the year?

I think Clubs care about Team of the Year. Day after Bradman Medal on clubs social media they are always talking up/promoting all their award winners from the night, so think it still carries some significance and honour in making the team.

Always hear clubs complaining on the night how could so and so have missed out :D

Started in Sydney I believe

20 new cases in NSW and they're going to pull the pin on grade finals there

Imagine that we'd follow suit

Games in Sydney 1st grade yesterday were abandoned because of rain. Nothing to do with viruses yet.

How was the game at Tea Tree Gully in the last round. Looks like no one could bat. Was the pitch bad? Or just final week blues? Finally ball dominates bat. Love games like that!

No Sheffield Shield, but SACA will press ahead with Premier Cricket finals this weekend despite coronavirus pandemic

The cancellation of the final Sheffield Shield round will see a number of big names return for the SACA Premier Cricket finals, which will be played as scheduled despite the coronavirus outbreak.

Premier Cricket manager Steve Busbridge said at this stage SACA had no intention of abandoning the finals in any grade – seniors men’s and women’s, or juniors.

“Obviously with the coronavirus situation things can change, but at this stage it’s all systems go,’’ he said.

“I’m sure we’ll have continual discussions as the week progresses and keep up to date with medical requirements, but we’re expecting the finals to go ahead as scheduled.’’
