With heavy rain being forecast for Sunday, does anyone know if SACA has a 'reserve day' for the One Day Semi-Finals, or is it a case of the top two going through to the Grand Final?

Cheers

I believe there is a reserve weekend set for the 12th Feb in the event of a tie or wet weather....

And where do SACA draw the line of when match is rain affected? One team bats, and the second team only faces ten overs or so, meaning no result, surely that is not replayed and top team goes thru to GF.

Uni won outright over Port.

Sturt big win over East Torrens. Puts East Torrens a win outside the four. Sturt draw within a game but have the bye next round.

West Torrens hung on for a draw against NDCC with a little help from the rain

Glenelg smashed Southern Districts. Bays only 5 points out of the four and Port (4th) have the bye to come. Were on track for a possible outright when the rain came.

Draw between Woodville and Adelaide. No good for either team.

Kensington beat Prospect but no outright points.

TTG big winners from the weekend! Had the bye but stay 3rd.

Semi finals today. Might struggle to get on? Rain this morning. Not sure if there's more to come later in the day.

What a debacle at Henley & Grange Mem.
Just before tea it started to rain again (pitch previously covered due to rain), tea taken at normal 3.30pm, still raining, umpires wouldn't allow ground staff to put covers on. Twenty minutes into tea, umpires allow covers to be put on. Twenty minutes of pitch getting rained on. In the end it did not matter as no more play was possible. If further play was possible WT would have been disadvantaged playing on a damp pitch. All clubs are required to have covers to protect pitches, why not use them? Les Burdett was at the match and couldn't believe what was going on. Some common sense was surely needed.

A sign of how even the competition is with the bottom 2 teams being in strong positions against the top 2 teams at certain times in the game? In the end, the rain probably saved the Eagles from defeat and prevented Kensington from an outright, so the weather gods doing WT a favour, along with another lower order partnership.

With Port and Sturt still with the bye, Glenelg look primed to replace Port in the 4 by the end of the minor round to join WT, Kensington and TTG. With an outright to Uni over Port yesterday, there is still probably 10 teams with a sniff of a finals spot with 3 rounds to play.

West Torrens 160 (GL,TTG,SD)
Kensington 145 (AD,AU,ET)
Tea Tree Gully 115 (SD,WT,PR)
Port Adelaide 110 (ET,ST,Bye)
Glenelg 105 (WT,PR,AD)
Sturt 95 (Bye,PA,WD)
Woodville 90 (AU,ET,ST)
East Torrens 90 (PA,WD,KE)
Adelaide 85 (KE,ND,GL)
University 85 (WD,KE,ND)
Southern District 75 (TTG,Bye,WT)
Prospect 25 (ND,GL,TTG)
Northern Districts 20 (PR,AD,AU)

Bradman Medal tip?

Top 10 Run Scorers
Jacob Dick (Sturt) - 618 runs at 56.18
Johnathan Dalton (Kens) - 610 runs at 87.14
Adam Hose (Kens) - 535 runs at 76.43
Brad Davis (Sturt) - 532 runs at 53.20
Harry Nielsen (Wood) - 470 runs at 58.75
Conor McInerney (Wood) - 461 runs at 46.10
Ben Bullimore (Glen) - 458 runs at 65.43
Sam Raphael (Adel) - 439 runs at 73.17
Daniel Drew (WT) - 423 runs at 47.00
Jake Brown (Kens) - 420 runs at 105.00

Top 10 Wicket Takers
Nick Winter (Uni) - 23 wickets at 13.22
Ben Williams (WT) - 23 wickets at 13.78
Akash Patel (Glen) - 23 wickets at 29.00
Sean Williams (Sthn) - 22 wickets at 22.23
Elliot Opie (Kens) - 21 wickets at 15.38
Adam Somerfield (TTG) - 21 wickets at 23.00
Phillip Neate (Adel) - 20 wickets at 18.15
Nick Benton (Port) - 17 wickets at 20.12
Dominic Bess (WT) - 16 wickets at 14.88
James Miller (ET) - 16 wickets at 17.38

Would think the winner would come out of that group of batters.

Does it seem like the wicket taking numbers are a little low? Flatter wickets and the turf ball having an impact perhaps.

Not as many allrounders having an impact this season either. Daniel Drew has plenty of runs and a bag of 6-for. Alex Gregory 364 runs and 11 wickets so far.

Mark Cosgrove and Jake Winter both started well but have fallen off the pace a bit. Cossie missed games with suspension too.

Reckon Somerfield from TTG would be favourite at the moment, then Davis from Sturt and Dalton from Kensington.

Leading wicket takers last year were Roberts 38, Haberfield 35, Tietjens 27.
Year before Valente 34, Opie 32, Benton 31.

If some of the guys near the top get three wickets a match they can get to 32, so not far off last couple of seasons.

Even runs scored have way to go, last year Barrett and Carey both scored over 800, and the year before Raphael 758.

(Josh Barrett from Southerns on 400 runs this year and he has only two games left, half as many as last year - why Southerns struggling maybe!).

Also this season at least three rounds have been affected by the weather limiting the opportunity to take more wickets and make more runs.

Agree, Somerfield would have to be favourite at this stage.

Jake Brown is another one to watch... 420 @ 105 with 9 wickets to go with it. and is a proven vote getter

Yes, Ben is the son of the former football field umpire, Richard. Richard is a great guy and has been a tireless volunteer at West Torrens for a number of seasons.

Watched Ben from the opposition "coaches box" in primary school days and he stood out then with his action being that of a bowler who had good things ahead of him.

I watch with interest Harry Neilsen, Ollie McDowell and Bens progress through the ranks. Neilsen might just be doing enough with the bat this season to take the next step.

From the WT Facebook page a few minutes ago.

"MERGER ULTIMATUM QUASHED

It is with great pleasure and relief on behalf of the Board of Management of the West Torrens District Cricket Club that we formally announce that the SACA tonight confirmed that the merger ultimatum has been withdrawn and West Torrens DCC and Port Adelaide DCC will remain as stand-alone clubs! The SACA President/CEO also announced they will be pursuing the inclusion of a 14th team to eliminate the bye.

Thank you to everyone who has supported and contributed to the club during this very challenging process and congratulations particularly to our President Denis Brien and his subcommittee who saw this through to the end.

Now we can move on to concentrate on bigger and better matters – like winning premierships! We hope to see many supporters, members, sponsors and past players celebrate this historic announcement this weekend at the Annual 100 Club Event (Saturday Night from 7:30pm) and/or the West End One-Day Cup Semi-Final (Sunday from 11am).

GO EAGLES!"

Great result and must be an unbelievable weight off the shoulders of those heavily involved with both clubs.

Now hopefully this can move forward in a positive fashion. A new club, new ground, new facilities from the fastest growing area of Adelaide will be fantastic.

There's been a cloud hanging over grade cricket which will now lift. Good times!

Though I've heard a whisper the U/19 team might be the 14th team...
