1v2 - winner gets a week off, loser players winner of 3v4
3v4 - winner plays loser of 1v2

easy peasy!

Another idea... you could do that just for section 1.... have the sect 1 grand final with no other games played... then you may get a really decent crowd to the game

Yeah that is what i meant edited my post to reflect that. Section 1 is the place it should start anyways IMO.

 isn't the season long enough????????????????????? current system works fine....

As i said in my original post we could do it without extending the season by having an extra one dayer, not that i like them. Or we could have just the one week off over christmas a few options to do it without interrupting the precious football season ;) .

I just think it gives the top two performed teams a real advantage come finals time, as that is why you have the minor round. The greatest advantage a side has by finishing 1st or 2nd currently is the weather and 9 times out of 10 that will get you nothing.

When I played in A&SCA there wasn't much regarding juniors.
Now I think it's a bit different.
If you started finals games at 10.00am in the instance of extreme weather to get a fair game, would that interfere with juniors at all?

Lots of sides have juniors now smithy, we wouldn't be able to start a final any earlier than 12. As well as the fact that many people are working on a sat morning.

Wouldn't be a comeback would it when you played in the winning grand final the previous season  ;) ?

Danny may keep playing, but think he is looking at the lower grades if he does - knee in particular gives him a bit of grief these days.

My proposal
Fits in easy with the footy program - footy shouldnt start next year until April 10.

Round 1 - 10/17 October
Round 2 - 24/31 October
Round 3 - 7/14 November
Round 4 - 21/28 November
Round 5 - 5/12 December
Round 6 - 19th December - 1 dayer
Round 7 - 2nd January - 1 dayer
Round 8 - 9/16 January
Round 9 - 23/30 January
Round 10 - 6/13 February
Round 11 - 20/27 February
Semi Finals (All grades) - 6/7 March
Prelim Final (Sect 1) Grand Finals (Sect 2-6/7) - 13/14 March
Grand Final (Sect 1) - 20/21 March

I put January 2 as a 1-dayer as some people may be away.
We still have 27/28 March free
Easter is April 2-5

Options are to have December 5th off for the test match and move the program back a week.

As me and bloods have spoken about numerous times together, this is something we think would work RE: the finals.

From our experience at the youth centre, we find the two hardest weeks to get players to play are the first week of the season and the first week back after christmas. We are always having a large number of people available for the second week after christmas, and therefore missing out on cricket.

To combat this, with the intention to also add the extra advantage (double chance, come finals time for the top two sides) a program would b better suited like this in our opinions.

Season starts. Week 1 - one dayer
Games 2-6 all 2 dayers finishing the saturday before Xmas

Week after christmas break - one dayer (therefore extra week gained). round 7

ROund 8 -11 all 2 dayers.

Week 1 of finals (used to be last week of season) 1 v 2 3 v 4
week 2 (presuming high side wins) 1 in GF week off, 2 v 3. 4 is eliminated
Week 3 GF 1 v 2

This could be the same in all sections.

The only problem that some people would have is possibly playing 3 weeks of Sat/sun games. It is something that has to be weighed up against the added bonus and attraction of finishing in the top 2 and the fact it would make selections the week after christmas a lot easier.Every side will still play everyone once and once only in a 12 team section. Nothing changes except the extra one dayer.

if this was a motion that was being put forward this week, i for one would definitely be voting for it.

Thoughs??

Guys,

I think we need to do something about the points awarded for a game which is abandoned..
Perhaps where abandoned both clubs should be awarded 5 points rather than 3..
3 just doesnt cut the mustard if other games have been able to get a result for that round.
All grounds have different umpire attitudes/captain attitudes and playing conditions..
What do ya think?

Too late for that now for this season will have to remember it and put it forward as a motion for next year.
