Smithfield 3 outright wins from the first three rounds.
Don't reckon that's happened too often.
Pity the b grade couldn't match it this week, all out for 25- ouch!

Pretty good win by the Units over Craigmore, of course getting both McIvers cheap helped but it looks like Woody was on Fire.

Gonna be a close Grade 1 comp this year. apart from ATCO all the teams look like they will be competitive.

Westies, Norfs, and Smiffies all looking good so far in grade 1,2,3. Grade 4 favouritism up for grabs this week with the top 2 teams playing each other.

Played in an enjoyable game last match. Dominated week 1, got dominated week2. Eventually won outright but came within 2 wickets of getting reversed outright.

Tried to stop the ball hitting the stumps with his bat whilst running.

Pretty horrible day all round out there from all reports, a couple of mates said it was the most disgraceful day of cricket they've ever been involved in, had a huge delay as an ambulance was called after someone got hit in the head with no lid on, wasn't very pleasant.

Disgraceful in what way? Was there an official umpire?

Smithfield vs Parafield Gardens in Grade 3.

PG had a player who's sledging was way overboard, the game got very heated at times, they sent out an old fella to umpire that wasn't part of the game and blatantly cheated with a couple of caught behinds, a Gardens player went nuts at his team mate for giving him out when there was a clear edge (to which he admitted later that he should've just walked).
Then a Gardens player got struck in the head not wearing a lid and they lost a heap of time, it was pretty scary apparently.
By all reports PG had a similar game the round before, but given the icy relationship between the two clubs over the past 18 months it was always going to be a bit lively.
There was no umpire for day one on the weekend but one will be sent out for this week.

Being involved at Smithfield for a long time and knowing who's there, they can get pretty chirpy and usually more at each other for a laugh, it's probably not the wisest thing to get personal to them and start bringing geographics and stereotypes into it, you will come off second best.

Ha, I remember having a game against St. Pauls that was getting a little heated, I was batting and I went over to have a chat with the bowler to try and simmer things down when he said to me that I should tell my missus to put her Woodstock down and take the needle out of her eye, it went down a little less than pleasant.

Yowsers.

I love it when those comments are made by people from clubs of a similar demographic who somehow think they're not of that demographic.

You learn to accept it, funny thing was that I didn't know what he meant about the eye thing.

Yes it did get a bit silly at stages of the game, the game was on hold for about half hour for both teams to settle down.Smithfields football club vice president had to go out to the middle to carm things down a couple of times, then things finally settled down roughly 2 over in to it someone was hit by a bouncer and was unconscious for a long time, not a pretty thing to see .so yeah it was a pretty yuck game of cricket.

Got to say and I hope it doesn't offend to many and I wasn't at the game on the weekend but I reckon i have played 3 seasons against Smithfield in the last 5 years and while the club has turned around the footy extremely well the cricket leaves a lot to be desired.

In the last five years I've played for two different clubs against them and have had two games which have been called off earlier than they should have because of behaviour issues.

In saying that the guys we had issues with no longer play I'm pretty certain

I gotta say having played in independent central and churches comps for many years Para Districts has so far proven to be far less volatile although it might have something to do with the teams i have/havent played against. Thoughts #Zartan?
