Unfortunately Drew was an out for WT to most distressing personal circumstances. His future for the rest of the season is up in the air.

I hope all is/will be ok and he takes whatever time is needed. The club will always be there as would SACA.

I noticed the SA boys wearing black armbands yesterday. Just awfully sad.

A cliffhanger finish at Tea Tree Gully, the reigning premiers make their move into the top 4 and the top team lose their first game of the season. Another round down and some vital points secured for some.

Port Adelaide 8/349 dec (Khan 113*, Conway 109, Barrett 5/52) draw with Tea Tree Gully 6/343 (Andersson 167)
Port Adelaide declared overnight and Tea Tree Gully appeared to time their chase to perfection, with 3 overs to go, 18 runs needed and established batsmen Andersson and Weaver at the crease and 5 wickets in the sheds. However Valente and Andrews put on the squeeze and TTG fell 6 runs short.

West Torrens 161 defeated Glenelg 146 (Reuther 5/33)
The Eagles found a way to win after scraping to 161 last week and the undefeated Glenelg seemingly cruising at 1/60. A breakout season from James Reuther was capped with his best performance to date as he lead his side to victory. Other unheralded players in Reggie Els with the bat and Luke Terry with the gloves have made key contributions through the summer to compliment the well known firepower Torrens have with both bat and ball. These two sides will meet again next Sunday in the one day final.

Kensington 197 defeated Woodville 133 & 2/72
Kensington’s bowlers continue to provide opportunities for their side to win, despite a shaky batting line up. The Browns passing Woodville’s low total 6 down. Having sat on the bottom for much of the season, a second consecutive win catapults them into the top 4 and perhaps a chance to defend their premiership?

University 273 defeated East Torrens 144 (Bamber 6/49)
Last years finalists picked up their first win since Christmas to hold on to 2nd place on the ladder. Batting well in to day 2 to record 273, they were too strong for bottom placed East Torrens.

The Ladder
Glenelg 125 (Wdv/Kens)
University 85 (Port/TTG)
West Torrens 80 (Kens/Wdv)
Kensington 70 (WT/Glen)
————————
Tea Tree Gully 60 (ET/Uni)
Port 55 (Uni/ET)
————————
Woodville 50 (Glen/WT)
East Torrens 45 (TTG/Port)

In Div 2, top of the table Sturt def bottom placed Prospect outright. Southerns defeated SACA U19 and Northerns defeated Adelaide.

Sturt 165 (SD/ND)
———————
Northerns 120 (U19/Sturt)
Adelaide 85 (Pros/U19)
———————
Southerns 60 (Sturt/Pros)
SACA U19 60 (ND/Adel)
Prospect 20 (Adel/SD)

Unlike the 20/20 GF where both teams were at full strength, looks like both West Torrens and Glenelg could be severely depleted for the One day Cup final on Sunday which is a shame.

Spencer being added to the Aussie squad for NZ tour is obviously a massive out.

But there is a Second X1 game in Tasmania starting next Monday, so how many players will that affect?

My guess is Kelvin Smith, Bailey Capel and Harry Manenti from WT, and potentially Jake Winter, Issac Higgins and Harry Conway for Bays.

Shield game starts the following week, so Jordan Buckingham, Harry Nielsen , Nathan McSweeney and Brendan Doggett should play.

Chuck in Daniel Drew out for personal reasons, not sure how Liam Scott’s ankle is either.

Will test the depth of both clubs.

Expect both sides to be near full strength. Johnson definitely out for the Eags but Drew is a chance for Sat, Sun or both. Depends how he pulls up after the funeral on Thursday. Unsure of Glenelg's status with players.
Does loyal and competent Luke Terry again miss out on a GF for Neilsen?

Patrick Fisher in same boat two years ago, dropped for Neilson in two premierships, Harry got two ducks and faced three balls in total. Fisher not been back to club since. Did have Warren Peters at the time who was just about a better keeper.

Luke Terry will miss out definitely, he took couple of cracker catches on Saturday too.

Heard rumour a Bay player and Torrens player both suspended from the weekend, and that will stop them from playing in One day final too. Seems different rules for Redbacks players as Thornton when suspended was allowed to play for them  Not sure which players though, only heard secondhand?

Always tough to leave players out especially if they have been loyal servants to the club and recruits cruise in and out (this happens at every club), but on a positive note they have been given exposure to play first grade. Also understanding the pathway where PC, 2nd 11, Shield and then Aus all feed into each other and where you sit in your club with players playing at the next level should be given consideration by players that miss.

Hopefully suspended players get the early guilty plea of a suspended sentence. Seems SACA have cracked down since the T20 final.

WT have had the wood over Bays in recent years, surely time for the Bays to get one back ;)

Certainly seems to be crackdown since that 20/20 GF! Reckon has been 7 reports in last two rounds. No reprimands or suspended sentences given any more by the looks, all get games.

Think it might be Patrick Brown and Danny Irvine in trouble - Day 1 6.34.10 (not tech savvy enough to load it, sorry!). Might be appealing the sentence on Wednesday, tough to miss the next round AND also the GF on Sunday (considering Thornton was allowed to play for Redbacks one day matches in between his).

Looks like Irvine definitely in trouble. He has initiated the contact as he can see where he is running and Brown didn't change direction (he was only turning around to start walking back to his mark). Unfortunately Brown, by retaliating, looks also to be in trouble.
Not condoning any bad behaviour but I think people would be a little aggrieved with the lack of consistency when Buckingham and Nielsen got away with what they did with no penalty at all (maybe Tim stepped in and leant on the powers to be to have it go away?? )

Think SACA were not happy with Buckingham and Neilson not being reported from the 20/20 GF, hence the big crackdown since. Seems the umpires have been told to report more so at least players now know in future won't get away with it

Brown has been given a 3 game suspension for the incident against Glenelg last week.......suspended for the next 12 months! He is free to play this Sat and the GF Sunday. Unsure of Irvine's verdict yet.

So much for them not giving suspended sentences anymore in their tough new stance

Can’t give Irvine a game now after that, even though he started the incident.

Irvine playing this week, not sure of penalty other than it would of been suspended.

Tough stance must be increasing number of suspended games  , used to only be 1

Tough stance was good while it lasted for two rounds

You either want to change the culture and get tough on player behaviour like Victorian Grade cricket or you don't, there should be no in between.

Just saw the footage that one of you guys posted a bit earlier regarding this report.
Both players lucky if they did get off, but reading your comments, I wonder if the report process went a bit soft because there is a grand final being played this Sunday?
