Typically I have to explain myself.....where have I said we wouldn't have taken them? All I'm saying is 'they're knobs'.

Did you guys think the same of Scott Salisbury, Alan Stringer, Kym Klomp, David Grainger when they were going around for other clubs?

Any why have a go at my "sh1te" team? I'm not allowed to offer up an opinion? You folk are getting a bit precious aren't you?

The cochranes, sr taught at CSPS, went to school with the sons and played with the twins at lizbeff eagles.

Richie was a solid hb.

Sally saywell was a fav of the old man

Me and a couple of other posters on SAFooty had Richie Snr as teacher at Craigmore South.

who knows mate, but they're knobs (on field). Good players from the limited amount I've seen of them but they spoil it by being knobs.

They certainly are not up there with "favourites" for sure.

Sturt would have taken then in a heartbeat and Gadj would now talk about them in glowing terms. They are simply magnificent players on the field and what they bring to the club beyond their playing skills is massive.

You are living in absolute fantasy land if you think Sturt wouldnt love to have 2 players like the Gowans at their club whether their knobs or not they get the job done, maybe thats why we have been taking the pi55 for the last ten years because other clubs are too worried about being nice people.

hope it makes you feel good that your football team is 5hite but they act properly on a football field, f**k that win games of football is all i care about.

Ah-ha, an admission that the gowans play dirty!!!!!!!! They finally own up! 8)

So the gowns don't act properly on the football field? I'd call the opposite to acting properly, dirty ;)

No, I would call the opposite to acting properly, acting improperly. As in stretching the rules to the limit & trying to get away with whatever they can to piss the opposition off & get under their skin, so they stuff up.......without getting reported. Playing dirty, such as Sandery, gets you reported & FOUND GUILTY.

I don't think they act improperly on the field at all. They play hard and tough to win games of footy. If they step over the mark then they get penalised. If they got penalised too much then they wouldn't help us win and they wouldn't get picked. Over 200 games in 12 seasons and how many suspensions? One of them was even a square up for a hit behind play the other bloke got away with.

Whatever issue opposition fans might have with them I can understand them being disliked, but to think you wouldn't want them or your own players to act more like them is naivety in the extreme.

Very discerning choice there Booney. Was very highly respected around Elizabeth for the way he went around it. Even near the end when he couldn't really do much he was still capable of keeping Brant Chambers totally out of the game.

Craig Braddy was a handy defender a few years prior.

Not having a go, but with some of the teams the Bulldogs had on paper in the 80s it is perhaps surprising they didnt go further in 1 or 2 seasons. When you consider names like Lee, Girdham, Mandemaker, Bubner, Greg Smith, Chaplin etc etc.

Perhaps it was a cultural thing as far as not having the confidence to win big games against the "established" clubs, in a similar manner to their current culture of domination.
