John Platten - best small man I've ever seen play the game. Just brilliant.
Terry Von Bertouch - The ultimate rover, beautifully balanced footballer.
Jeff Potter - Became a master at roving to the beaten ruck. There was almost no ruck advantage when Potter was in the opposition.

Im of the same era and it's hard to go past those 3 although Bucky was always a favourite of mine, as was Greg Turbill albeit both were at the end of their careers.

Sewer never really played as a rover. He was mainly a half forward flanker, and also played centre.

Daryl Cahill was a very good rover kicked 50+ goals in some seasons.
Alot of permanent forwards arn't kicking that these days.

Small enough to be one. If you played centre, you could be classed as one, esp. when there is a goal.

You're either a rover of you're not. Sewer wasn't. He played elsewhere.

Platten was the best i've ever seen. Naley was good too, always lifted for State Games as well.
Port's best in the last 30 years would probably be Bucky Cunningham.

Barry Pilmore. Im impressed! Being my current coach and knowing he spent a few years at Torrens in the early-mid 80s i thought he played a lot of 2s footy. Hes still running these days, doing all of the preseason and if needed im sure could hold his own in games still. Went on to win 9 best and fairests at Noarlunga!

Little champion ... Many thought he would have won a Magarey in a more successful side.
