Tough one, you could make a case for each of them ... I'd probably opt for Hodges by a neck

Evans, 1000 goals speaks for itself.

Tim Evans is in their team of the century IIRC

But I always rated Scott Hodges very highly too. Always lifted and performed in the big games.

Hodges had a bad year (games played wise) with an ankle injury IIRC, did he miss many others through injury.

NM - I didn't realise just how high Evans tally was, speaks for itself though .. As I said, both were great players.

He had knee problems, recon shoulder, recon ankle & alot of back troubles.
I think his body was f....d thats why he retired aged 30.

I had a feeling he felt the pinch a bit, but the memory isn't what it used to be ... I don't recall Tim having too many injury concerns in the years I saw him.

If his neck was straight when he kicked he would've kicked 184 instead of 154 (IIRC) that year...

Remember more of what Hodges did compared to Evans, so I'd say Hodges too.....

Port have been blessed with gun full-forwards.

Going back to Frank Hansen, Bro Dayman and Rex Johns.

Randall Gerlach even forced Tim Evans to CHB one year.

Evans was probably most consistent

Yet Scotty most brilliant.

Flip a coin!

His last three years (1983-1986) were injury-plagued.

Ended his career mid-season on the bench against Central at Footy Park.

Kym Kinnear and Bomber Clifford also retired at the end of '86...

He didn't miss much footy in 84 & 85. :)

What about Eric Freeman? He was a pretty handy full forward in between cricket committments.

Having seen plenty of them both at their peak, Tim Evans for mine. Hardly ever beaten and had vice like hands and a very accurate kick for goal. Not to discount Hodges at all who was excellent in his day, but couldn't remember Evans being beaten many times.
