Happy Birthday to the greatest SANFL footy player Ive ever seen
25/09/47 born
Barrie Robran turns 61 today

_____________________________________________________________________________
QUITE AN AMAZING SYMMETRY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TAKE AWAY 9 MONTHS FROM HIS BIRTHDAY = 25 TH DECEMBER
______________________________________________________________________________

From North whyalla came to town in 1966 to play for NA
His career was shattered when he collided with Lethal Lee Matthews [at the SCG ?] in 1974
Played 201 games for NA
I recall one game where he played after a very long absence and he dominated[against NW ?]
Played 2 games of cricket for SA as well in the early 70s

Won 3 Magarey Medals
Significantly he was runner up in 1967 as well as a young lad, so nearly 4 !

What a legend
He was starring when I first started watching SANFL footy

Happy birthday Barrie :prayer: :prayer: :prayer:

Gee, Barrie Robran 61. Makes me feel old, I remember him playing his 1st match at 18!!!!

Agree with you Mal on the "greatest SANFL footballer I've seen" accolade. He wins comfortably in my book, and I've seen some good ones :)

Happy Birthday Barrie.

19-11 into the Last qtr Prelim Final GL V ST
Todd Grima launched himself on his opponents shoulders and took a speckkkky
As Todd hit the ground he instantanously handballed to a player running through.

Re-incarnation
Thats what Barrie used to do

I reckon I saw Peter Meuret handball on the way down from a 'speccie' once :D

I agree about Barrie, though. I saw him play a lot and he was great.

Classy bloke, too.

I was more concerned about the 'reincarnation' comment. Barrie would be upset to learn at his own passing, I'm sure.
