424 posessions to Magpies and 356 to Bulldogs?

Postby spell_check » Sun Apr 09, 2006 4:28 pm

Is that right? Was there really that many stats being racked up in that game yesterday?

If so 252 kicks is a new club record for Port.
138 marks is a league record (and record for Port)
172 handballs, just falls short of Ports record - 174.
780 combined posessions is the 2nd highest ever recorded in SANFL.

Also, Ports' Totals was 680 (Kicks, Marks, Handballs, Hit Outs, Frees For, Tackles, Goals, Behinds) add up to 680 - a club record, and 2nd highest in the SANFL ever.
Both teams totals combined add up to 1204 which is a SANFL record.

Yeah, thats correct. Best thing was that it was excellent football to watch from both sides. If the same disposal count was for an AFL match you can predict it would be chippy chippy keepings off. This was great attacking crash and bash football. Was one of the best enjoyable games of football ive seen in a long time. Very quick and very skillful from both sides.

Port had a lot of marks. Id like to see a contested mark stat as I reckon Port would have had at least 25 contested marks. Maric, Meiklejohn, AhChee, Baird, Butcher and Jenner took heaps between them.

Possesion of an illegal weapon.

The crowd was 3771, Booney, plus about 25 yobs in the bowling club  Apart from the result it was a fantastic game of footy. Unlike the AFL, when they rack up big stats they are usually playing ring-a-rosy, there was no obvious playing keepings off, just hard at it footy.
