i think he played for hawthorn then onto west adelaide, south adelaide & glenelg (i think in that order) has spelly got his breakdown of games/goals & years for each club (just the 3 sanfl clubs will suffice) i think he was captain of south when he was there but i do stand corrected, i was too young to really appreciate but i believe he was a great player

I don't, but I think Adelaide Hawk will have his games and goals.

1965 - 1972 Hawthorn, 132 games and 195 goals
1973 Captain/Coach of West Adelaide, 18 games and the B&F
1974 - 1976 Captain of South Adelaide, 53 games and the B&F in 1975
1977 Glenelg, 7 games, 2 goals

I dont know the goals breakdown for each season but his total SANFL games was 78 up to end of 1977 and goals was 87

Bob Keddie played 132 games, kicked 195 goals for Hawthorn from 1965 to 1972. Played in the 1971 premiership team and won the Hawks' B&F in 1967 and 1969.

Was captain-coach of West Adelaide in 1973, playing 18 games and kicking 14 goals, and won their B&F.

Transferred to South Adelaide as captain from 1974 to 1976 playing 53 games, 71 goals and won their B&F in 1975.

Then in 1977 he played 7 games, 2 goals for Glenelg.

Not a bad record: 273 games, 282 goals, 1 premiership, 4 B&F awards. He also played 5 games, 4 goals for South Australia. He also represented Victoria, winning All Australian honours in the Adelaide carnival 1969.

I actually went to see some WA /SA games just to see Bobbyboy play

You're correct Mal, Keddie booted 4 goals in the GF, all in the final term. He was shifted to full forward in the final term and really made the difference. That quarter of footy was the only time Peter Hudson never played FF. Hudson doesn't recall much of that match coutesy of a Cowboy Neale knock early in the game.

Don't know about the club song, but I always thought the striped jumper was introduced in 1974 when Fos Williams took on the coaching. My memories of him as a West Adelaide player is wearing the current style jumper with the red sash.

I have a 1973 Budget here that says - West Adelaide (Black, Red Sash). It's right next to an ad with a cracking photo for Hughes & Loveday Sports Store.

Yeah Fos introduced the vertical stripes. Kerley reinstated the sash. Keddie introduced the red shorts.
McAlmanac, I'm guessing in that photo Hughesy has his hair combed straight forwards.

Why did he decide against it? He would have walked into a pretty successful era with the Hawks at that time.

Not long Married - Worked at 29Berth Port Adelaide (Loved his job before BHP closed the Wharf) and had strong family ties at home. I guess the VFL for dad didnt have the pull as it does for kids his age these days.

Don Roach brought the song to Westies after his time at Hawthorn in the 1960s
