Played mini-league on Thebarton Oval one day for Torrens, Rudi walked past and I can still smell him to this day.

Davies in for Carey - Carey was an outstanding player for Glenelg BUT in the 1970s head to head ruck clashes between Davies and Carey - Davies was superior. In fact Bob Tardiff gave Davies more problems than what Carey did and it was Tardiff who rucked the majority of games for Glenelg against Sturt than Carey during that era.

As an SANFL fan (not a Sturt fan), I wish in hindsight that Davies didn't go to the VFL when he did, as I think it has tarnished his reputation a little.

He was a champion and I don't rate him any lower for him not producing over there (I believe his lack of a pre season was the reason for him not performing to expectations at Hawthorn).

When Davies and Carey were both fit in the 70s, who was generally picked to lead the ruck in the State side?

Correct - it's Geof not Peter

I thought it said P, not G - well that's ok and acceptable  then

Lets hear from Hodges and make him a hero.

Let's hear from Granger.

A hero also.

Last time I heard, in court having chucked a bucket of water over Michael Atkinson.

Hardly a hero. That said, and putting aside the highly questionable acts of his on-field efforts, I think he's struggled mentally post-footy as well.

He may have struggled pre-footy as well.

He should have been invited
We would have had fewer dodgy Glenelg players

I'd actually have Cornes in the side ahead of Kernahan.
Talked to Barrie Robran a few times and Cornes was the best player he'd seen in his opinion.
People know my issues/opinions of Cornes as a person but when Barrie tells me something like that I listen.
IMHO Davies is a no brainer too.
They did a pretty good job, if Cornes and Davies were in instead of Blight and Kernahan it would be spot on but no issues with Blight as he'd be my next pick.

You've outed me Wedgie. I wasn't going to say that because it doesn't fit in with my anti Glenelg agenda ;)
I'll stick with Bagshaw as Ruck Rover but it would be 50/50 with Cornes
Funny how no of games is so important for Carey but not important for Kernahan and a few others

I'm not sure if people know, but our very own Chris Kendall did his own team a while ago
I'd love him to contribute @CK

That's the one where Atkinson claimed the "bucket of water cascaded down his left side leaving his clothes sodden and unwearable".

@Jimmy_041 I've been reliably informed that it was Kendall's "Top 50 SANFL players" of all time.
