It's a good team that can put Peter Motley on the bench.

Read about it? I heard you played ;)

I couldn't crack a game. North had a bias toward old PAC boys. I tried to transfer to Woodville but they didn't exist.

I reckon for all bar about the first 10 games of George Fiacchi's career he was in a back pocket.

Yeah i reckon he started off as Port's 3rd rover to David Brown and Tim Ginever, so didn't really get a huge amount of opportunities. My guess he would have played about 20 or so games in the forward pocket/changing on ball, up until that game in 88 when he was tried in the back pocket.....the game against Norwood which was straight after the tragic passing of Anthony Williams. From then on, Fiacchi became a huge asset on the last line of defence, and as we all know, formed a great partnership with Roger Delaney.

Port have had some good players down there with Fragomeni, Eckermann, Hofner playing on the last line at different times. Always a wrap for back pockets with some quirk to their game, like George and a few of them had. Loved Greg Nicholson because he held the ball a funny way when he kicked.

Wayne Schmaal fits the back pocket, odd name bill ... Misses out in longevity compared to the other names mentioned though (Jerry D'Antochia played there a bit Id say)

Scott Lee didn't get out of the back pocket too much either.

One that is still, somewhat embarrassingly missing is Twiggy Caldwell ... but that is to get away from the original theme of the thread.

I was at the game when Pinus went down as a neutral ... if there was a more consistent one position player than him over so many games, I'd be amazed.

Jim Lihou certainly comes to mind but didn't play as many games. Milky Vivian and Ron Hateley deserve honourable mentions.

Happy to have Obst and Hateley as rivals to the great man Roger Woodcock, particularly Ron Hateley, largely due to the quality of his enormous red beard that basically didn't change for 14 years. The beard, and how skinny he stayed, made him pretty distinctive. For Woodcock, I'm not sure I can remember more than about 10 right foot goals of all the ones I watched him kick.
As for your others, well, not so sure about distinctive legends of one position. Mike Nunan was certainly famous for being able to play in a mini leaguer's shorts, so that he could wear them tight like everybody else of the time.

Adcock has flags, but I still argue that Woodcock ranks ahead of him, due to his 600 goals, plus two flags
