Well LL - unless it gets an immediate listing the old stand I'm afraid will soon be condemned to history. Providing the redevelopment plans get approved as expected, the old stand will be knocked down in October this year!l

Pretty sure the Williams Family Stand, as it's now known, goes back to before WWI, around 1908.

Was closed in the early-80s for safety reasons.

Puzzles me why heritage terrorists hold sports clubs/organizations hostage over grandstands/grounds?

They have no heritage value. None whatsoever.

If only Adelaide Oval could be properly redeveloped into a world-class facility...

The H Y Sparks stand at Glenelg was built in 1921 and opened at our first game at home agaisnt North on May 21.

I don't think it is heritage listed.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

yes but unlike some of teh current councillors in teh Ward that Glenelg oval is located ol 'Bert Sparks actually cared about the club and was a benefactor to it.

I went and had a look at the Kensington Oval stand, and it's the one I remember. It was opened on the 23rd of January 1965:
