I have the season totals for Sturt games and goals for each player back to 1994, that's what I was going on. :) So, I'm not sure which seasons that he played in before then, but I'd say at a guess it would be 1980 and 1981.

Fair enough and your statement wasn't incorrect.

Yours wasn't incorrect, too. :) It would be fantastic to have an Encyclopaedia of players with each seasons games and such, I know we've said that plenty of times. ;)

Naley might be another to look at.

Don't know how many young players South have actually had over recent years though...

For what it's worth, my last game of Aussie Rules was against Ben Hart, before Mardling was born...

Wouldn't be Naley - he played between 1979 and 1993.

If Dexter Kennedy played in Round 10 1970, this would be another occasion - he was born on the 7th of June 1954 and Lindsay Head made his debut on the 12th of July 1952.

His first game was in 1980 and last was in 1996.

Okay, so we need a Sturt team list from 1996, and from that we should be able to figure out if any of the players were born in or after 1980. I know the actual topic was "playing against"
someone born after your career has started, but I reckon having team mates that weren't born when you started playing is pretty out there too.

I just checked the Sturt site for the ages of any players on that list that are still playing. Unfortunately I could only find photos, there doesn't appear to be any stats listed for players.
Sorry Spelly, my stat gathering powers are miniscule next to your data base, my only hope from here would be to start making stuff up, but I don't think that will be of much use to the discussion.

Quite correct.

Making stuff up is a practice that should only be employed when starting a new thread.

Once a thread is underway your only choices are to:
a) quote a previous poster out of context
b) contradict an earlier post by yourself
c) accuse another poster's club of salary cap breaches
d) distract other posters with an amusing image

See if you can spot which method I have adopted?

No, no, no. All new threads must begin by praising Sturt. Those threads which don't will end up being hijacked by the Sturt fans anyway, might as well save them the trouble.

I don't recall any 16 year olds playing for Sturt in 1996; I could be mistaken though. Whoever it may be did not play for Sturt in 1999, because in the Platts and Jars Yearbook in 2000, the only player born after 1979 that played in 1999 was Adam Klun.
