It was only on Sky TV on Saturday that I realised a Jockey's trust had been set up, which I thought was a fantastic idea!

This got me to thinking how lucky we've been that we haven't had any fatalities in recent times (that I know of), and then this happened yesterday, so sad! :(

I've always said that Jockeys are the most courageous sportspeople. I'll be donating to the fund.

I like Marion Type and Our Littletreasure in race 5, although I've heard good things about Captain Percy, who had an 8L win last start over the 1500m at Port Augusta.

The wet ground will be the test for Captain Percy.

Yeah, it rained a bit overnight and even at training last night, the oval was fairly heavy underfoot. Which is why I like the other selections.

Given the events of Monday one would suspect that Stewards and jockeys would be jittery about any track concerns.....

Geez, didn't think we got all that much.
I'm guessing Strath will be cancelled then next Wed as they are real touchy with that track. And this sort of weather all week.

We didn't get a lot of rain over night. 6mm. I heard this morning that the rail had to be moved 6 metres. Maybe it was to do with this. Who knows.

The track was assessed to be a slow (7) on race morning but an inspection revealed sodden sections of the course were unsafe for racing.

Stewards abandoned the meeting at 11:40am (local time), which was 35 minutes before the scheduled start of the day’s racing.

Stewards had concern with three areas of the course that were considerably worse than the slow (7) rating while the inner road for support vehicles was unusable.

A Gawler meeting has been put on the Schedule. Wasn't there until today. Replacement for Balaklava maybe, or Strath already cancelled.
Belmont been cancelled aswell today. Some edgy Jockey clubs with the events of Monday.
