So that means it will (in the vets words) never be an athlete. So we have to scrap the idea of going to the races to see Maghro and cheer her on. Shame, because the horse was apparently working well despite the breathing problems. Of course, that was over 3-600m of work not under race conditions.

So that means we're down the gurgler nearly 8k. As they told us, there are many hard luck stories and most horses don't even race. You just never expect it to happen to you!

So we're now 5 horses down and still not had one winner!

No chance of getting surgery? I believe So You Think had similar problem. It's a paralisation of a muscle in the throat that opens and closes to let air through. When is paralysed it doesn't open. They surgery permanently opens the muscle/flap. Doesn't work for all horses but there are different levels of paralisation. As for breeding I believe it's highly likely it's hereditory

That was in the vets report too RT. She's already had one, at the expense of the original owners after we'd purchased her but they've said it's inoperable.

I am seriously thinking of putting the syndicate bet on the nose of this thing on Saturday.

Hey, just on that, does anyone use this form - I think it's brilliant http://www.puntersparadise.com.au/form-guide/

wait to thank me if it wins.

Also, have a look at SR 8 15 Texan Lad. Roughie, but might be worth a look. Good form on dead tracks, good at the distance and won at Scone. Ortensia best horse in the race by a mile but 62kgs? Not sure.

Others I'm looking at on Saturday, SR 2 No 6 Conroy's Gap and SR 6 No 10 New Beginning.

I haven't looked at Doomben yet, but will let you know if I see anything.
