Apparently Morphettville r1- 6 - is an over the line job. He will be staying out as it's too short for him.
Just tuned into GetOn SA as I do most weeks before the trot show starts in WA. All 4 on the panel tipped it as well so fair to say its gonna get crunched.
I might trail in the quaddie for an interest.
An astute analyst got it down to 3 legs in the last and maybe 2 if there's a scratching so can really get a good % of it.

Love my Thursday night Get Ons*.

2021 Balaklava Cup Form

R1 5 The Map
Small field and this one appeals with 55.5kg after the apprentice takes his claim off. Early support from the market. $2.90 seems fair in an open race.

R2 4 Dorothy Rose
Really closed off well last start so the extra 200m is a plus. Eran Boyd has ridden this horse 5 times for 2 placings and should know what she’s got under the hood. Fave goes up in weight, different jockey, back in distance. I’ll take the known quantity. Market support also.

R3 8 Kungka Maru
Interesting race so looking at something with each way odds and a relatively consistent form line. This runner has some tactical speed and Gate 7 doesn’t appear to be a hindrance with limited speed drawn under it.

R4 9 Cibachrome
Inconsistent runner but rattled home last start at Murray Bridge and could pose a similar threat here. Really into it as it’s number 9 from barrier 6 (69).

R5 6 Lime Spider
Not a lot of depth here and not keen on the odds-on favourite. Go small each way on this one from the Darryl Dodson yard. Kayla Crowther rides into the placings almost 50 per cent of the time at Balaklava in the past 12 months.

R6 2 Hilumiere
I got stung by this sucker last time it ran here but maybe because it went via the car park. It’s a big backmarker with a booming finish. Claudia Lions needs it closer than last over the 1300m but back in class and can get the job done. Don’t hate the topweight here either.

R7 2 Morialta
Short favourite but like the form line over these. If you’re looking for value, watch the track pattern and if it favours leaders, look to 6 Domination and 4 Tanner as each way plays.

R8 6 Winning Partner
Last seven winners of the Cup have carried 55kg or less. Winning Partner won it last year. Teams up with Barend Vorster and Tony McEvoy targeting three consecutive cups. Yes please.

R9 Fight For Freedom
Number 7 in the last. Todd Pannell Rides. That’s enough for me.

Have a good day mate, it completely snuck up on me, 10 months ago LHM was meant to be eyeing off a run today in the Cup, one of many paths that the trainer has told us that he'll take but we still see in running in piss weak 1200-1300m metro races that don't suit while he is carrying the grandstand despite running impressive races and making good coin over in Victoria in his pet distance.

I backed Cosmic Gossip, watched it win (so I thought) & went back to work.
Where was the interference, closing stages?

1st October 2021

Racing SA has today announced that jumps races will not be scheduled in the South Australian racing calendar as of next year.

Despite the efforts of all industry stakeholders to maintain a jumps racing program in SA, declining participation levels and horse numbers have made the industry unsustainable and unworkable.

Racing SA’s current data shows there are fewer than 10 jumps horses currently in South Australia compared with more than 2400 registered thoroughbreds across the State.

A total of 12 jumps races were held in 2020-21 with field sizes falling to less than five horses per race. This compares with the growth being experienced in flat races where field sizes grew to an average of 9.7 runners.

“Jumps racing has been an important part of the thoroughbred industry for almost 150 years.

“However, participation levels in jumps racing in South Australia, particularly from within our State, have been declining for some time and it has become clear that we no longer have a sustainable jumps industry.

“While this will undoubtedly be sad news for some, we believe it creates some very exciting opportunities for the future.

“Thoroughbred racing in South Australia is on a growth trajectory, and this decision is in the best interests for the future of our industry.”

The move will see Oakbank return to its roots in 2022 with the traditional Easter Saturday and Easter Monday racedays now back on the calendar.

The iconic Great Eastern, Von Doussa and Harry D. Young names will remain, continuing the history of these famous events for significant prizemoney, but now as flat races rather than jumps events.

“It means we can return to having the iconic Easter Carnival with racing on both Easter Saturday and Easter Monday and attract a new audience to Oakbank by broadening opportunities for some new and exciting initiatives for the 2022 carnival and beyond.

“There are a great many people who love Oakbank for what it is; we believe there are even more who will love it for what it will be.”

Where jumps horses are unable to transition to flat racing, Racing SA’s Equine Welfare Officer, John Cornell, will work with affected trainers to assist them in either transferring the horses to new owners interstate, into eventing or into retirement.

Good mate of mine has a fair chunk of a horse debuting in Randwick race two tomorrow.

#4 Drisana with McEvoy on board, a very impressive trial last week.

Is your mate a former AFL player? Had this horse in my BB so already on, but couldn’t remember why I had it lol.

Yeah mate. He often pops in the Seaton or the Henley on a Saturday for a punt.
