Little wonder that Essendon are so keen on Mark Williams to replace Sheedy. All week Choco has been getting out on the front foot, being innovative and thinking outside the square in brilliant fashion in order to get his team over the line in this weeks top of the table clash at the Cattery.

Make no mistake this is a huge match for the Power. For the Cats, this game is little more than finals preparation, almost a dead rubber with top spot locked in. If the Power can succeed where 15 others have failed in the last four months this young team will be bristling with confidence and self-belief and most likely the prized second spot on the ladder. The consequences for the suddenly Kerr-less West Coast of a Port victory are dire.

Williams went into Sheedy mode straight after the remarkable ‘theft’ of the Hawthorn game down in Tassie. First he pointed out that he knows what is like to be top all year and not deliver when it counts, inferring that Geelong may be about to do the same thing. Then he aimed a well placed jab at Cameron Mooney and hinted that maybe the volcano was about to blow.

Now it is reported that the Power have been scouting the Cats for a month and that he has contacted Dean Laidley for advice about how to beat the Cats, seeing as he was the last coach to successfully perform what has become an increasingly difficult task. Port has proven in its short AFL history that it is a professionally run club and the rapid rebuild has left several more established organisations blinking in wonderment and Mark Williams is a key behind much of what is good about Port Adelaide.

Mark Thompson for his part, has made all the right noises this week and has kept his focus on what his boys are doing and Geelong’s method is almost an ‘us against them’ which ironically, has served Port Adelaide so well in the past. While talk of the premiership being ‘in the bag’ is a tad premature as well as being inaccurate – it would be just as inaccurate to suggest that the Cats will have it all their own way against Port at home this weekend. If Port Adelaide don’t come away from Cat Park with the points, it won’t be down to a lack of preparation.

I reckon Choco has been excellent this week, why not see if he can gain an advantage ... I wouldn't suggest it was innovative though, perhaps a little more "old school", but that sort of thing has been going on for ages just isn't as common amongst the current school of coaches.

Cam Mooney is apparently one hit away form being suspended for the rest of the year - or something along those lines from Choco

well lets see - in the games he has played he has used his physical presence - yes he has given away some 50m penalties by being physical, but it is controlled aggression.

against the Crows at aami stadium Moons gave away a 50m penalty early on in the game with a hip and shoulder on Basset - I thought that was a 50m worth giving away - he let everyone know that he was there..........

in previous years - last year - he would have lost the plot by now in some games especially and would probably be out for the season.

id love the power to go down to his backyard and try to 'upset' him and try to get physical - because if i remember correctly the last time the CATS smashed the Power at aami CHOCO labelled his team SOFT!!!!!

Cam Mooney is a well known hot head. I acknowledge that he has been well disiplined but still the right player might be able to get under his skin. But in saying that, Mooney seems well prepared for that kind of tactic this season.

I met Cam Mooney a few years back on GF day (pretty sure it 03'), and whilst it was only a brief encounter he was a quietly spoken fella who didn't mind chatting with a few lads who'd been on the turps all day ... Made me laugh because it really belied his onfield persona, expecially around that time.

I guess they say it's the quiet ones you have to watch huh (or he could have just been behaving because his missus was with him).

Mooney is the one and only Cats player who has tasted September success so Im not sure why everyone thinks he will get reported?

i have complete faith that Moons wont be getting reported anytime soon for reckless behavior.......

Cam is a perfect example of white line fever there is a few players out there who are or were like this Carl Ditterich was the same.

OTM REB,big game for Port,as a solid showing not so much a win,but a sloid showing will perhaps have us in second spot in the Premiership race,and with so many players in the side who have tasted that,it might not be out of our reach.
On the flip side,a belting this week and a slip up to Freo and we might finish 4th or 5th,either having the Cats week 1,or perhaps Adelaide (5V8),neither of them are to appealing to me.WCE with no Kerr,a dodgy Judd,and a half fit Cousins hold little fear mind you.

Cant wait for Sunday,or can I?

As a Port supporter i'm not that confident of victory, just being realistic. Have heard that Bartel probably wont play though, so that should even things up a bit.
