Wouldn't take much notice of that, they probably wouldn't even know the difference between Aussie Rules and Rugby League.

just a bit of American exaggeration. went to uni with some college kids this time last year. They thought we were mad for playing a game like that. But they loved it.

We were just as astounded by their stories. Their College football stadium had enough room to fit the entire town and campus with room for visiting fans also about 80k all up half with locals

you blokes have little idea....when you have kicked as many goals as Sav I believe he is regarded as one of the best players ever, there is no doubt he is a future hall of famer so surely that makes him one of the best?

He sits 12th on all time list of goalkickers, ahead of Kernahan, Carey, Bartlett, Hudson

Mind you I dont think the yanks would have made that up, they would have just gone with what someone had told them from here...

He wasn't even one of the best players in his era, let alone ever.

No Coleman Medals.
Never an All Australian.
Delisted by Collingwood.
Less than 3 goals per game average for a stay at home FF (which isn't bad, but just not great).

A servicable player who had a long career. Wouldn't rate him near the best players though.

One of the best players ever?? Wouldn't even be in the top 300 players of all time.

And of those who were/are full forwards in the modern form of the game, how many have a better average of goals per game? (haven't calculated this, just guessing and am anticipating getting smashed on this point  ).

I think he was a very good player but great? No. Hall of Fame? Unlikely, IMO.

If it were the Hall of Fame for back hair, he would be a monty.

thats the problem most underestimate how good he was for some reason...

He set the standard for kicking goals outside 50m and broke new ground in this area

based on the above and players around him he has to be a monty to be in the Hall of Fame

"One of the best players ever" to me, implies top 20, or top 50 (over last 130 years). THERES NO WAY SAV IS EVEN TOP 100!!

Good, maybe "great" player at his peak, but certainly not one of the GREATEST EVER.

Sav was good, but not a powerhouse forward who would kick 60+ goals a year, he was mayb a tad under rated but i believe not good enough to be in the hall of fame or top 100 players..........

anyone want to challenge this or ignore the fact that every player in the Top 20 goalkickers in the history of our game has or will be in the HOF?

If Sav gets into the hall of fame, Ian Perrie will be the next inductee :) :) :D :D
