One of the games of the year is on today and do we get coverage? No. FFS they send out media releases saying they are breaking thru new TV boundaries by having SImmo miked up, yet how about breaking a simple boundary by allowing us to watch it

FFS....

Not to mention while showing the V8s interestate South Australian audiences despite getting massive crowds to the Clipsal instead get to watch "According to Jim" and "My Wife and Kids" this afternoon.
This time last year I would have had a choice of watching Geelong v Kangaroos or the V8s, this year Ive got a choice of watching "According to Jim", "Joan of Arcadia" and "Bean" the movie.
Thanks a frigging lot Channel 7.
Honestly, this is getting beyond a joke and something needs to be done.
The government can shove the anti syphoning laws right up their clacker as far Im concerned.

Yep, ironic that Channel 7 took them to court and yet Channel 7 are their best friends as far as getting rid of the anti syphoning laws, mind you Foxtel's ratings would be down, last year they would have had the Kangas v Geelong live where this year they just get to show the same game as what's on Channel 7.

maybe we were spoilt with FOX footy channel but we would have been able to see all 3 games today on FOX or FTA, today we get to see 2 games on 2 channels....unreal

What I meant was that all this frustration with Free to air this year should bump up Foxtel subscriptions for next season

Cats and Kangas not live on Fox because C7 have that game but we can't see it here because local C7 are comitted to showing Foxtel's coverage of the Power game. That right? It's stupid - they need a reciprocal arrangement whereby Fox get to show the Cats game in Adelaide if C7 get their Power game.

Agreed, that's what happened last year.

when I moved to NSW I made a decision that the only way I could guarentee to see all the big games was to purchase Fox

This is ann issue for all states, Chaneel 7 will cater for the local market, in their view, I'm assuming channel 7 are probably showing the Power match, that this game will rate higher then the Cats v Kanga's

In all programing, ratings drives their decision making, I was in Melbourne two years ago, when the crows were playing the eagles in WA, in round 21 for the minor premiership, the game got no air time, by memory, I watched Carlton v Richmont, two bottom sides

Whether it is channel 9 or 7, their strategy is the same, it's a commercial decision based on regional ratings, this will continue to happen

Today, I have the opportunity to watch all 4 games, however if I did not have Fox, I would only have the opporunity to see the Hawks v Power game.

Not to mention, a typical W/END OF footy coverage in Sydney, includes, the swans game, plus 1 Saturday afternoon game and the 1pm Sunday game, no Friday or Saturday night footy unless the swans are playing, this is an improvement from the channel 9 days, we only got the swans live back then

This is a good reason to live in Melbourne...
If you have Foxtel then you get all 8 games of a weekend (granted the Friday night game is always on delay - even when the game is in Adelaide!!)
then on a Saturday / Sat night we get a 30 min delay on channel 10 if the game is played in Melb and on Sunday - with 2 live on Fox + the delayed channel 7 telecast...

I actually try not to watch Friday night or Sunday middle game, I hate Channel 7's camera work and commentary... I like many others was looking forward to Bruce's return.. only to find a tired, warn out commentator....

The key was last year with Fox footy, they used to program the content depnding on the state, so today even though Ch 7 have the rights to the Cats/Roos game they would hand over their coverage to Fox Footy to show in SA as the other games where being shown on FTA, that way you could see every game....this year as its now on FOX1 which is national coverage it isnt as flexible as Fox FOoty was, therefore as soon as Power/Crows game is a Fox1 game Ch7 take their coverage and tis shown on both channels....I dont usually complain but all involved will be getting a detailed letter at the end fo the year...

What they need to do is use the Main Event channel for the blackout game like today, like they do in the Northern states on FNF (which they get live BTW) Hey Id even pay $5-00 to watch it on Main Event today or at the very least have the game available to watch on the AFL website live

Of course today there is no radio coverage either unless I tune into 3aw via the web...

Understand SD, but today you have got more options than us here in a footy state! My point is that if you want to watch the game, via FTA or FOXTEL you cant, which is extremley dissapoointing as we could have for the past 5 years under the previous agreement...

So the Power game not on FTA up there?
or you get the covergae via Optus?

just to top things off 3AW pronounce the game the best they have seen so far this year

Cats by 16points but Roos have kicked 2.8

Deniis Pagan in a commentary box, very good actually
