How much influence has the draw had in 2007?

With 2 teams clearly at the bottom of the table winning few games it can show up the distortion created by each team not playing each other twice.
I analysed the premiership table to round 19 and removed all games involving Richmond and Melbourne and came up with:
1 GEE 16 52 160
2 HAW 17 40 115
3 WCE 17 40 111
4 COL 16 40 100
5 KAN 16 36 104
6 PA 15 32 113
7 BL 17 32 111
8 ADE 17 32 106
9 STK 17 30 94
10 WBD 16 30 91
11 SYD 15 28 120
12 FRE 17 28 103
13 ESS 17 28 91
14 CAR 17 12 75
Interesting seeing how teams have gained by getting to play Rich and Melb twice - especially Sydney!
Completely hypothetical I know

crows draw was good enough
we have defeated some good sides like Hawks, Swans, Kangas and PA, however lost to sides like Melb, Essendon, Freo
Crows have been their own worse enemy, can't blame the draw

NIL...
Alot of people had Melbourne in the 8 along with Freo...
Not too many would've thought Richmond we're that crappy...nor Geelong that good.
Where the influence is, is when certain sides play at the MCG 16 times in a season...

Hang on .... it doesn't matter where we thought Richmond and Melbourne would be. They have turned out terrible and then the luck of the draw means some teams have played Richmond, Melbourne and Carlton twice - while others have played them each once.
How can that not influence where they finish up?
Collingwood's draw is a whole other issue
Sydney-Dog, I am not blaming this for the Crows performance BTW - we have lost too many games we shouldn't have I agree. Even removing those games we still only just in the 8.

my view is simple, if you are good enough to be in the top four, you should have the capability to beat all sides

hondo (by the way when my kids see yours & Wedgies avatars they wanna watch the movie !!), anyhow,
There are ALWAYS going to be certain, "certains" in the AFL draw. Such as Carlton will always play Collingwood and Essendon twice, Adelaide will play Port twice, WCE & Freo twice...
When Carlton are down, Collingwood would pencil in two wins, much like Carlton used to when Collingwood was down. This is the way the draw is and will always be until the AFL gets all teams to play each other home AND away twice in the season...

The draw will always have a significant influence on the ladder until we have 30 rounds for 16 teams, 26 rounds for 14 teams or 22 rounds for 12 teams. Doing this will eliminate any bias in teams getting a free run (Collingwood and their phobia for interstate travel, for example).
But even then, there will be an issue of who plays who in a run of games (pure good or bad luck IMO) and whether a team travels interstate two away games in a row (something the boffins at the AFL can manage without too many problems one would assume). At least it would be a fairer system though.
Can anyone tell me why we need the nab Cup?

Draw wouldn't have made much difference to Geelong this year!

We may have a team that ends up in the top 4 on the back of 6 wins against Carlton, Richmond and Melbourme

And they'll play Geelong first week in the finals. Everything's coming up Millhouse!

There was never any issue like this raised before 1987 - the biggest issue was the run home when the ladder began to take shape mid-season.
If only we could get the Vics to see sense and merge a few clubs to give us 14 clubs and 26 rounds, then there would be a return to equality once again.
But mergers are another topic altogether!
