Channel 7's Camera Work

I pray that Channel 9 gets back the AFL one day, Channel 7's camera work is nothing short of amateurish not to mention the people in the OB van who today had one camera following Burton for a minute instead of the play.
The amount of times you miss live action because they're showing replays and they show ads EVERY goal.
Pathetic.
And that doesn't even take into account that we now get 1 or 2 games less a week than we used to and have to put up with Bruce.
Give me Eddie anyday.

agreed there wedgie I only watched the footy today because Geelong was playing. Normally on a sunday i give the footy a miss and watch a movie or play playstation. I am not a C7 fan and as soon as the AFL realise this current deal is killing the game for viewers the better i miss my sunday double header i didn't care who was playing i just watched both games and enjoyed it all. Please AFL give the footy back to C(

The ABC has better coverage on the local comps.

They had technical issues today and we watched Burtoncam. The problem is nobody knows what the **** they are doing down there.
Bruce McAvaney has been a bigger disappointment than the Fremantle Football Club this season. I have fond memories of a young McAvaney calling SANFL matches for the Big Replay in the early 1980's..this is the day for heroes...
Now Melbourne has gotten to him. Old age, too much make-up and too much 'polish' and even worse, an apparent lack of research that made Bruce a stand out in the 1990's has all snuck into his game. He is sort of like Essendon..a shadow of what he was (and doesn't he just love them, he almost does rude things to Tim Watson when they call Essendon games together...unbearable UGH).
Bruce, your heart isn't in it so call REB and I'll take half your wages and do a better job so give us a call mate.
regards,
REB

My gripes with C7 are the effects mikes (or lack of them) on friday night. Just terrible.
And their choice of comments men is dubious. I just dont see what the Ox has to offer. Sure he was a good footballer, but does he add anything to the telecast? Same can be said for Ricky O. on the boundary. Would have to be the worst interviewer going around.
The amount of ads they pack into a replay of a game must be record breaking

..I thought Ox was outstanding on Friday night. Hardly even knew he was there...

Just keep an ear out for the very explanatory 'urrgh' and 'oooh',you'll find he is there.Sadly.

The Ox is useless- every game he comments on you can tell who he has his money on. Will comment on a poor umpiring decision one way, and look for any possible explanation going the other way.
Try it next game he calls and tell me I'm wrong...
Ricky O is awful. Sh!t player and even worse as a boundary rider.
And as far as the effects mic goes- it was way too loud at the start of the year, now there is nothing. No idea C7.

Ditto to all of the previous posts.
Finally there could be a topic where every person who posts on it, agrees 100 percent!!!
Now I have opened my big mouth, "Murphy's Law" will now kick in and some idiot from Ch. 7 will join this forum to log on and defend their atrocious coverage?

I can forgive the odd technical error. I can even forgive the bad commentary in some cases. What annoys me the most is their delayed coverage on Friday night and especially on Sunday afternoon. Television coverage of the AFL has gone backwards in a big way this year, including for those who have Foxtel. Channel 7 have contributed to the fall.

I just don't watch it ! Rather spend time time with the wife and kids on a Friday night, as I usually spend either the Sat or Sun watching Glenelg !

I think the demise of Fox Footy Channel has left a huge hole in TV coverage of AFL.

I agree Strawb - no real egos in the ABC commentary box. Seven are a disgrace. They've always been crap at televising sport. Nine's camera work was certainly better (though their commentary was just as ordinary). Seven deserve the flack they cop from the likes on Newman and co.

When was the Friday night footy ever live?

Spot on...this is a bit of mongering by Channel 9 re that one...Seven should show it live then they can at least shove that bit up Eddie's ass !
