Is it official I thought they were still just talking about it?
Absolute Joke we should ring/email (bombard them) Channel 10, their AFL broadcast sponsors and the AFL and say that unless there is an a retiring players motorcasde we will not watch any of the telecast until 2:30 pm (when the match starts)

Some of the big name players that will potentially miss out on a fitting farewell to the game deserve better - Kouta, Darcy, Roo (maybe), Buckley (maybe), Voss.
Apparently a 'walk on' will take place of the motorcade but it feels like they want to rush it and move the cameras to something else whilst the players are walking off. Shame channel 10, shame.

If this is true then the AFLPU should boycott the AFL sanctioned events leading up to the Grand Final i.e Brownlow....
If this is how they want to treat the ex SUPERSTARS of the game, then perhaps the current players should take a stand
on behalf of the brothers.
AFL = JOKE

I was surprised to learn that Channel 10 were still pushing for an evening 2007 Grand Final well into this season
..... and the AFL only gave them their answer well into this season ..... imagine if that had got through?
To AFL house - if you are going to take that much $$$ for the TV rights, expect them to squeeze every ounce of benefit for their station as they can
Maybe they'll have a motorcade with the cast of Neighbours .... the NEW Neighbours

They wouldn't do it because the afl will fine all the players/club and unlike the NRL when the players boycotted the Dally M in 2003 The Brownlow is more prestigious and it would be disrespectful to Charles Brownlow's memory.

What is the point of having a game run by individuals who have no concern for the people that follow the product. If I was in the AFL house I'd be concerned with what the people are saying.
The way it's going, and if something like this happens (no motorcade for legends) then it'll be seeya AFL

what a joke...
Screw channel 10.
Remember when you used to able get up on gf morning (after a few hours sleep on the couch as you watch the footy marathon), watch the underage final, then the ressies then the big one. A solid day of quality footy. Now you wake up and you get every channel 10 'personality' known to man giving their 2c worth on the game, on basically a 5 hour preview of the bloody game! Oh, and a few snippets of the underage final.
whinge over

AFL = TV Stations and it's VFL past

This topic had a mention on Footy Classified last night - seems to be gaining some negative press.

Just think that players like Gary Ablett Snr had a black mark against them for NOT going in the grand final motorcade of retiring players and now they aren't even going to have one.
A bit off topic but I don't know anyone who doesn't watch the AFL grand final that would be able to watch it just because it was on at night. In other words, I don't know how Ch 10 comes up with this rubbish that more people would watch the game on TV if it was played during the evening. What never seems to get mentioned in these figures as well is that a lot of people watch the grand final at pubs and clubs, hence the actual figure for "ratings" purposes is actually probably much higher.
All I can put it down to is that the TV stations can charge more for advertising if it's played at night. Thankfully Channel 7 have the grand final in 2008 so hopefully this topic won't be revisited by the AFL for another year at least.
