i know you can play better in a better team but how rodan couldn't consistently make the richmond team is beyond me, so has he improved that much in 12 months ? is it the enviroment ? etc etc but what are your reasons ?

Probably a combination of things. His serious knee injury didn't help, hes matured as a footballer, Richmond is on a very deliberate "youth" policy (ie giving guys like Foley etc a chance to play major midfield roles), and hes reacted very positively to Choco's coaching/teaching style.

what a great find for Port.....I don't think he would have improved that much in 12 months but i think its the enviroment and the coaching/teaching style. At Richmond didn't he play more as a forward but at Port he has played more in the midfield?

No matter how much you hate Port I think you have to take your hat off to Chocko with Rodan and overall this season

They have genuinely surprised me and, if not for that form slump after round 7 or so, who knows where they'd be?

Rodan was a 'regular' in the Richmond line up,I just think,at the time he was played out of position. He was used mainly as a small forward, some times on the ball.

He had a good year in 04,I think he may have negotiated a new contract going into 05 when Wallace took charge. He was hardly used in the middle, where he is shining as a 'in and under' ball winner ATM.

I am thinking Wallace cut him for :

1: Knee recon (obvious)
2: A contract which was perhaps paying him more than what Wallace figured he was worth.
3: Richmond needed easy targets to de-list to begin a change in the squad.

Knee + $$ = Easy option.

Thankyou very much Mr.Terry Wallett, may we have another?

Agree with what Booney's said ... Also think he's shining more brightly because he's at a club that plays with a better structure (probably didn't need the word "better" in there, as Richmond didn't appear to have one at that time).

Not only is he a very good player having an excellent season, he's also great entertainment value.

With a young side, it's the slump they had to have. Similar to the one Hawthorn's experiencing.

Bearing that in mind, 'who knows where they'd be', I fear for where they'll be next year. Ughhhh.

Rodan is an interesting one. Last pick and has been a consistant contributor for the power. I guess hes played more in position here. Also could be the fact that the richmond footy club is hauted by the ghost of cant win ;)
