Could Hawks miss the 8?

Postby Dutchy » Sun Jul 29, 2007 10:57 pm

Sitting on 10 wins they have hit the wall IMO, they have the second youngest list in the AFL and its this time of year their legs are getting heavy and dont have the 5-6 pre-seasons under their belt to draw upon....their draw aint easy with no gimmies, infact they could conceivabley not win another game -

to come -
Essendon @ G
Lions @ G
Power @ Tassie
Bullies @ TD
Swans @ SCG

alll teams have their seasons still alive and will be going flat out....thoughts?

You'd only give them a strong chance against the Dogs.
The rest are tough games I'd say they'd lose at this point.

Didn't see them today, but they weren't too impressive against the Saints and I reckon they'll miss out.

They'll win 2 of those games and therefore easily qualify for the 8.

I'm with Dutchy, the Hawks are in strife. They'd be lucky to stop the farewell tour and Port have turned into a monster in recent weeks. The Bullies the winnable one for mine but one won't be enough. What happened to Buddy and Mitchell yesterday?

I did a ladder predictor last night and have the Saints replacing Hawthorn in the 8 at the end of the minor round. I think I tipped Hawthorn to finish 2nd two weeks ago, but they look to have fallen in a hole. Big game against Essendon this weekend!

There is a ton of different possibilities regarding the finals.

Kangaroos need to win 3 to make top 4. Port can make it with 3 wins but have to rely on other results. 4 will definately get them there. If Port win 4 games, then 2nd spot is dependant on who wins out of West Coast v Kangaroos.

Collingwood could be a bolter and finish top 2 as well with their dream run home.

Gonna be an exciting finish to the finals.

As a fan I must admit I am feeling a tad nervous....

Top 4 was always a bit above where I think we are ATM, but I think we are good enough to make the 8. We arent playing with much confidence at the moment, seems sides have worked out the game plan, and unfortunately Plan B is next to useless.

Out of those games to come, our good footy would win at least 3 of those games, but we need to beat Essenscum first- which will be harder if Mitchell and Buddy miss again...

But Essendon did play at the DOOM yesterday!!!

Port will finish top 4.Only the Cats game I feel we are out of reach of.We have beaten the Hawks in Tassie, and the Bulldogs are not as fearful as they are made out to be.WIth Adelaide and Carlton to run us into form,I can get off the edge of my seat!

The same thing happened to west coast in 04 i think it was? not sure it was around then looking at 4th or 5th then started to drop away. Problem was the young bodies started to run out of puff, i might be wrong but that could be why the hawks have hit a wall.

Next weekend will be fun in our house. I'm a Crows supporter and my wife barracks for Port!

I must admit it would take a form reversal for the crows to beat Port. However, if Tredders is back and everyone tries to kick it to him all the time we may have some chance!

TV Coverage

Postby Gilly » Thu Aug 02, 2007 9:32 pm

WTF is going on with the telecast? Instead of the Hawks and Essendon, Channel 7 are showing some old movie. Someone suggested to me that they delay to footy so that it leads into their news service. What a joke. WTF is in this broadcast deal for supporters if we have to wait until 3pm to watch a game that started at 1.40pm?
As a life long Hawks supporter, I'll be tuning into the radio and when I've finished watching the delayed telecast of the Hawks smashing the Bombers, I won't be watching Channel 7 news.

weve been going on about this all year Gilly, its a disgrace, I presume thats the way they do it in Melbourne and we follow, what confuses me is some of the games they have shown live e.g. Roos/Bullies was live on a Sunday at 1-40pm

It's totally disrespectful to the football viewing audience. Is the "Better Homes" audience so influential that this program must be shown at that time? Why do they bid for the rights and then screw over the viewers?

I just hope by the time that the game is on TV Budweiser and Boyler have kicked his 12 between them and I can start a new thread called "How high will the Hawks finish in the 8?"

It's all about ratings ... when Crows or Power play they show it live because then it rates better than BH&G in that time-slot

This is why Pay-TV will slowly take it over - the free-to-air networks have too many conflicting commitments in their limited air time

8.30 start for FNF when the game is almost 1/2 way over gives me the sh*ts - cue long running thread on the General Discussion board :D
In between signatures .....

As a Hawks supporter its hard to look at the games for the reat of the season after the last five weeks, winning over only Richmond and Carlton, its going to be a tough final five weeks but I believe that with the inclusion again of Boyle and then with Buddy and Sam Mitchell back, plus the upcoming return of Mark Williams that we should be able to kick enough goals to make it to September. Then as we all know all games are played on just one day and that is all that matters, I think we can surprise and go deeper in September than pundit think....

I'm pretty sure that Willo has been ruled out for the rest of the season. Hawks were close to full strength today. Can't wait for next Saturday's game against the Lions. Go Hawkers!
