Not a happy murder of Crows on BigFooty at the moment. It will be interesting to read the Crowboard should Port run all over them in the Hoedown in a couple of weeks.

Can they beat Essendon? There are rumblings my friends.....

If we lose to Essendon and Port then our season is officially SHOT

Losing those 2 is highly likely unfortunately - I have picked the Bombers on Sunday

Something is amiss this season - has to be to have lost 5 of 9 home games - whether it's just confidence (lack of) and injuries or deeper issues .... well make sure you find out Blue Boy!!!!

I wouldn't like it either if i realised my club had no real youngsters of note (except for a few exceptions such as Knights and Douglas), and as such no real future for the next 5 years at least. They need to rebuild, but their coach doesn't believe in that type of terminology, just as he doesn't believe in a "premiership window", but i guess the reality is there for us all to see.

Unfortunately we'll be in massive trouble in a few years because of Craig's lack of innovation and faith in the youngsters on our list.

And btw GWW, since when has Douglas been a youngster of note?

I rate Douglas, he might not be showing much this year, but with his performances in the SANFL at such a young age, i think he has the potential to be an above average AFL player. Time will tell though.

Love the Port supporters starring in this thread, even promising to give us great 'in hindsight' end of season 'I would have told you so' summaries ..... Port have been great this season but they too have a handful of older players who will disappear in the next 2-5 seasons. As does every club. It's easy to come out now, in the middle of a form slump, and make big statements about the next 3-5 years, especially when threads like these will be buried 20 pages deep by then.

The Crows have a number of players aged around 20-26 with long-term futures such as Rutten, Vince, Thompson, Campbell, Reilly, Porplyzia, Douglas, Pfieffer, Kinghts, Griffin, Sellar, Maric, Henstcell, Hudson, Johncock and VB. Some haven't been tested yet, all can improve. Some may not work out but it's too early to write off all bar 2 of them.

We'll see in the next few seasons if Craigy's faith in the youngsters will pay dividends. All reports are that the work with the young players has been one of the key improvements since he came on board.

With a bit of luck with injuries last year we could have snuck in to the GF and with our good record against Sydney who knows what could have happened? But we didn't and this season has been a frustrating follow-up for all the supporters but not enough, for mine, to predict doom and gloom all of a sudden.

You just know the Port supporters are LOVING this and are itching to rub it in  I'd probably feel the same (and, in fact did last season :D ) if it were the other way around.

Yawn.. the AFL is a completely different kettle of fish than say SANFL or WAFL etc, as is a club can go from bottom to top for within one season. In the SANFL the "rebuilding" process seems the norm to re-establishing a team as a finals threat. The Power are a perfect example, 2004 flag, followed by 2 ordinary seasons....suddenly top 4. Kangaroos another... bottom 4, then finals. Even if the crows miss the finals, they are more than likely to pop up into the eight next year.. Sorry port trolls...off to "BIG" footy you go .

What people will forget Hondo, and do so quickly,is the Collingwood teams of 02-03 were not that bad, quite good in fact. They earnt the right to have a shot at Brisbane in those years.

Same goes for Adelaide bumping into not only West Coast but having a Sydney there as well over the last two years.

What makes it more enjoyable is it seems (IMO) that Adelaide have now missed their chance with this list, many would agree, many wouldn't.It seems as though 4 or 5 years is the 'turn around' time required to get back to the top,and perhaps Port (I hope, not saying we are premiership bound this year) have shown you can buck the trend and do it in 3.Lets hope this is the case and West Lakes remains quiet for the next few years.

Bollocks. It's taken us eight seasons. It will take Carlton longer. Adelaide aren't bottom in the first place. Power are not a genuine top four side. Yawn indeed.

So the crows have a whole list of young players that are yet to Debut yet Craig plays an older player on debut injury pronned who wont be taking the club anywhere at least long term. Cant see any faith there.

That's been one of his mantra's since being at the club ..... developing the juniors. It's the best compliment I have heard from my sources close to the club - he spends a lot of time working with developing the kids. FFS 4 weeks ago he was being criticized for not trading for established players and, instead, focussing on developing juniors.

You assume if he doesn't play them, they are being ignored - I say that's an over-simplification of what goes on within the club. Why don't you ring the club and ask what's being done with the junior-player development?

You are one angry Crows supporter - I reckon if I said how green the grass was at AAMI you'd come out with a 'WTF' and start talking about 'rose colourd glasses' :D
