Adelaide v Essendon

Postby NFC » Sun Jul 22, 2007 6:09 pm

Ok, very early I know, but what changed would YOU make this week?

In: Meesen, Pfeiffer, Campbell, Gill
Out: Perrie, Doughty, Shirley, McGregor

Don't rate Gill, but we've got to try him out before seasons end. Can't have him on the list for another year if he can't play at the top level. Campbell's been high amongst the best for the previous 3 weeks and deserves a shot. Pfeiffer has had back-to-back great games, whereas Meesen has kicked 6 in 2 weeks.

All the outs are mediocre at best and are moving this team backwards.

Listening to the Life boys on the way home from unley today and they said the same thing Gill needs to play now or he might as well get the crows to pay out his one year contract now and stop wasting his time going to West Lakes for training.

Nick needs some serious work on his kicking consistency to be considered IHMO, but Neil Craig did stand in front of me for 3 qtrs so where there is smoke there's fire...................

They said on the radio that the Crows are his 3rd AFL club ... don't know any more about his AFL history than that.

I have a question mark on him at AFL level but I think he should get an opportunity before the year is out. The team seems stale and the same 25 guys are competing for the 22 spots it seems. While we are still a final 8 chance I don't want to see wholesale changes but some fresh blood might help.

I am not sure Torney is a write-off, as he at least atttacks the ball hard, but I agree Shirley and Doughty have always been marginal. Perrie seemed more useful at FF then CHF from what I heard on the radio, and I'd look at having him and Stevens in the FF line, before I replaced him, although rotating Hudson, Maric, and Griffen, with one of them at FF tempts me.

Perhaps there is also a need to looks at alternative placings for the aging midfielders and getting the faster young legs on the ball, but lets not take them from Norwood!

when nick gill was at melb and kangas he was a defender. he only turned in to a forward when he came to SA. and he is a much better player now then back then and i hope he does well next VS Essendon because he will play.i think he will do well as well.

he will still be insurance next year that was a horrific knee injury. i just hope the emu plays this week. Telstra Dome will suit his high marking game.

Hondo, are you for real...take you rose coloured glasses off - we are gone.
We need to forget about the finals start looking for the future and blood some youngsters.

Doesn't matter what tint my glasses are, when I look at the ladder we are out of the 8 on % only - hardly a lost season just yet.

Recent form suggests things are not looking good - but why compound the form slump by throwing in some inexperienced players at the crucial time of the year. It won't do those players any favours and will just cement the downward slide. Look at Douglas, starring for Glenelg but doesn't look to be up to AFL level just yet - what's the point of blooding more that aren't ready?

And Perrie is up to AFL level???
The longer we hold back the young lads and hang onto the glory days the longer it will take us to get back to win a flag…
Do you really think we can win the flag this year??

No and I have never said we will .....

Do you think Paul Roos is going to write off the season and blood lots of kids like you think the Crows should do? How about the other clubs that won't finish top 4? Just write the season off unless we can win the flag you reckon?????

If we make the finals you never know what can happen - if we write them off now and start planning for the next season we've got no chance

I qualify that by saying I would like to see some new blood too - but not too much at the expense of our finals chances that's an over-reaction and I think it could do those kids more harm than good if they aren't ready

hang on a minute wasn't it last week that people were saying that Perrie should've played against St Kilda and now after one game back he should be dropped! Not sure he was the reason the crows lost to freo.

Crows are still in the race for the top 8 so you pick what you think is the best side. Two weeks ago the Crows were going okay played a fantastic 1st 1/4 last week only to lose the game they needed to win that one. Got injuries to roo and rutten which they could not afford. Losing Rutten and Bassett has killed the crows instead we have to putt Mcgregor or Bock back who look better up fwd (both seem slow) it hbas unbalanced the side. Last week went to the Crows v Freo When crows go fwd they dont often mark in a 50/50 or 70/30 and we have no crumbers. Crows missing players who can play below there knees up fwd, against Freo they had no crumbers ,most the time these guys were up fwd Welsh,Bock, Mcgergor,Burton, perrie,Stevens generally 3 of them at a time and then our You got the likes of Reilly, Thompson going thru. Crows have alot of 6ft 2 players who run lead up but arent in under crumbers alot of them play the same or similiar.

Biggest blew last week was taking Burton off the ground when the Crows drew level midway thru the 3rd term. Burton was the go to man and was very dangerous in the 2nd and 3rd kicking 2 in each of those 1/4s. Craigy drags him for a spell while he is on fire why not leave him on and see him take the game apart instead of coming on 5min later and feo are 2 goals up. No point resting him hoping he can run out full game if you not in it by then take a chance and see if he and the team can put them up by 2.

When are we going to see Mcleod on ball or up FWD at some stage in the game he looks like he is ready to take game on not like stffy who me dont think is fit.
