A top book on Fitzroy

I was in the libary the other day and i found a book on the Fitzroy Football Club called Maroon and Blue.
It goes through fans talking about their memories on Brunswick Street Oval, Junction Oval and how they feel that the AFL killed the club. Former players also talk in the book about their memories of putting on the Maroon and Blue of Fitzroy. It also talks about how the supporters feel about losing Fitzroy and if they go for another and club or not. It is a great read i enjoyed the book and i recommend it to any football fan.

Currently reading a book about the Moscow Olympics which is a bit higher brow than what I normally read, also got Stan Alves book to read, only read one chapter of that so far about the death of his son and its so so sad.

There's plenty of copies of "Maroon and Blue" still around in the large bookstore chains.

The Fitzroy Football Club stocks them as well.

Jim Main's latest work "Fitzroy", featuring a complete history of Fitzroy, year by year will be released to co-incide with the "Kings of the Pride reunion" dinner on August 11th at the Melboure Convention Centre. This book has been commissioned by the "Fitzroy-Brisbane Lions Historical Society".

I have read Sacked Coach recently. the book is a fantastic read and it gives you a very good insite into how the St. Kilda Football Club operates. Stan should never have been sacked by the Saints and I haven't respected the Saints since what they did to Stan and most recently Blighty.

I love stats and club history books and this is the only biographical sports book I have read, mainly for the same reasons as you did Strawb.
Fair enough not respecting them, so try following the useless c@#% for 40 years.( like I used to).

I read Sacked Coach when it first came out, and whilst being a good read I was expecting a bit more from it. Didnt quite go into details as much as I thought it might.

Still a baffling decision.

A non aussie footy book which is a top read is "All Balls" by Colin Scotts, the first aussie to make it to the NFL. I picked it up a few years agao from a bargin bin for a few dollars. You dont really need to know alot about the sport to enjoy the book. Some of the stories he tells are hilarious.
