Can anyone offer the truth on the talk of a ticket surcharge on seasons tickets or Cat1 members tickets at Footy Park to subsidise the failing Footy Express service? I am assuming this is surely just media talk? They could not be serious surely?

I have heard on radio several callers asking why the bus service to AAMI isn't free for people with game-day tickets, like it is in other states apparently.
A post on the SANFL board says that the Torrens Transit have possibly suggested that they could move people quicker if they didn't have to process the ticket fares.
Nothing ever comes for 'free' tho, someone has to pay - maybe someone is speculating about how the SANFL would cover the cost of the buses if they became 'free' for passengers.
Maybe they could charge AAMI more for naming rights? Or could we have the AAMI Express running down Port Road? .... alternatives to charging the members which seems a bit much.

A few of our clan use it and are quite happy with the way it's run.Maybe the service is losing overall with the Port weeks maybe dragging the financial side of it down in comparisome to larger numbers on the AFC game days.I guess somehow it will work itself out .I dont believe a blanket surcharge on everyone is the way to go however. If you need to take your car or just out prefer to then parking and a bus surcharge you will never use is a bit steep I reckon. .The sponsorship idea may be the way out maybe; what better way to promote the drink drive message.

Perhaps we should all dip into our pockets and give them a free limousine service, it must be so hard for the poor buggers.

The problem is that Football Park needs to have a spur line from the Grange line connected to it in order to transport high numbers of people in and out of the ground quickly. Buses solve a portion of the problem, yet they are nothing like as efficient as the trains. Yet someone has to pay for it and my vote is that the State Government should fund it and at the same time extend the rail to West Lakes mall, replacing the Adelaide - West Lakes bus service as a result.

Yes Hondo, in Perth all major sporting sides and events have free transport via Transperth services if tickets are pre-purchased.
One major plus is that places like Subiaco, Perth Oval and the WACA all have minimal parking and it only makes sense for the government to get involved and help reduce traffic congestion around venues.
