Oh dear! I wonder how many pessimistic Cat fans would plonk on the four bucks on bubkus? There's only one thing we want to win this year.

the Cats are definitely the punters pal at the moment, reminds me of last year when the Crows were unbackable

On the betting Market,

Thompson is still carrying odds of 101 / 1 for the Charlie, I am not saying he will win the medal, but surely giiven his form this year, these odds should of come down

Macca is at 26 / 1, I believe Macca would definitely have 4 best on ground, and maybe couple lower preference votes, with 7 matches to go, Macca only needs couple more BOG's to be right in the Mix

On the Premiership, the punters stil seem to be ignoring the Melbourne based clubs, with the Cats, Eagles and Adelaide top 3

thought you might like this little bit of pressure REB!!!...it was this time last year the Crows came into nearly evens to win the flag..

on the Brownlow, as mentione din the G/Room, I backed Harvey at $60- 6 weeks ago, now into $7 3rd favourite!

They used to do this in the late 70s and early 80s ... great in the home and away and handbaggers in the finals.

Once this year's finals begin, the Vic media will bring out the "kitty jitters" and "handbaggers" tags out for their stories - IMO, I reckon it will be a Geelong-West Coast Grand Final with the "Perfect Pussies" pounded when it counts (1980 PF, 1981 PF, 1989 GF, 1992 GF, 1994 GF, 1995 GF ... and 2007 GF).

Sorry Cats fans but this isn't the year ... BUT I HOPE I AM WRONG THOUGH!

I'd like you to point out the relevance of those failures to the playing group of this season. This is only history. The history of this year is yet to be written.

Perhaps we'll know more about Geelong after our performance at the G this week. We don't get to play there very often these days so the Cats will be hell bent on turning around the shocker that was last years 100 point flogging. A poor performance against a fellow contender at the G would not be a good sign.

I don't know if we will win the flag or not, all I know is that unlike our tilts at the flag during the Blight era, that we don't rely on a select few, we have a real defence now and we are more the champion team rather than a team of champions.

What that adds up to in September is anyone's guess. In my view Geelong are better as a team now than we were during the Blight era but the opposition aren't as good as Hawthorn late 80's, West Coast early 90's and Carlton 95.

REB

What matters for the Cats is that they are in a position to make the finals this year which definatley suggests that the club has made the correction upwards in improvement which is what Frank Costa and the board of the club have been working so hard to try and achieve.

Like any top Eight side Geelong are a chance of winning it, my feeling is that finals experience with a teams current list does count. The form of any side throughout the year means little when the finals begin, it is a differnet style of football and sides must play at well over their best game in the season to be competitive. What encourages me about Geelong at the moment is that I feel that they have the capacity to lift up their skills standard in the finals from where they are now, I dont have that feeling for all the sides in the Eight though.

the players in the current Geelong lineup do know how to play finals they won a VFL premiership back in 2002. I feel this will be Geelong's year they are playing excellent Football and seem committed to the cause. People were quick to write off the Wets Tigers back in 2005 and they won the NRL premiership with little or No finals experience so never under-estimate hunger and willingness to win.

Yup.
Could have used a name like complete cats or something.
Very deceptive.
Like the cover of Street Commodores with the hot chick on the front.
She not in the mag at all.
Just on the front.

I am infamous on this site for my anti-Victorian based club views. But TBH, I wouldn't mind seeing the Cats get up. To me, they have as good a shot this year as they ever have done. History can be re-written in one season as long as the club ignores what has gone before. Look at the Crows in '97, Sydney in '05. Different players, different era - it's all in front of the Cats from here.

Perhaps a Cat team minus Cameron Mooney?

I agree that the Cats are better than in the past but seeing it close up, the Eagles have been all over the shop on and off the field since last October ... and they are equal second!

Cousins is definitely going to be back in the side and somewhere near right by Round 22, Kerr will pull his head as he always does come August so that doesn't miss playing in the finals ... two signs that they are only going to get better. All they need is a forward who can kick between three and five goals most weeks (without 4 or 5 behinds as well) and they will be back to their menacing best.

Despite being a Victorian by birth, I would rather see either of the WA or SA sides, Footscray, Geelong, Carlton, Sydney or North Melbourne win the flag. I am happy when any of these nine sides take out the flag and disgruntled when the others win - probably a kickback to the VFL era with my personal experiences and feelings related to each of the clubs.
