Should it come back either regularly, played now and then or should it be left to gather dust?

Have to agree it wont happen. Clubs dont like the concept of having there key players involved in games that dont count for premiership points. And eddie doesnt like it so he'll just instruct the AFL on the appropriate action.

It meant something back in the days of the VFL... (Before the Crows/Power)
Now, I reckon give it the flick,
No clubs took it seriously anyway!
It was amazing how many players were (conveniently) injured before representing the 'Allies'
in the State of Origin comp.
ie. James Hird, Shane Crawford, Wayne Carey, Michael Voss etc.

Somehow I cant see Victoria agreeing to being thrashed annually by S.A, so I doubt we will see Orgin footy any time soon. :(

If they do it, IMO it should be like League Origin - best of 3 and the AFL should give big $$$$ to clubs for having players represent them.

We can't even work out on here how it should work - Allies v individual states, how many games, when it should be played? It just gets too hard - the NRL have a very simple concept which has built up a great tradition because it's only 2 states involved.

That's why I reckon it will be a once-off next year. I'd like to see it every 2 years personally because I reckon guys like Judd, Cornes, Pavlich, etc are missing out on the honour of representing their state like their champion predecessors did. But annually will kill it off quicker than it started I reckon. As soon as a champion player does a serious injury in SOO, the clubs will tell the AFL to stick it unfortunately.

The most ideal IMO is three matches in a three year cycle where one state misses out every third year, then reverse the venues for the next three as seen below.

2009 - SA v Vic
2010 - Vic v WA
2011 - WA v SA

2012 - Vic v SA
2013 - WA v Vic
2014 - SA v WA

Teams would host a game once every three years on average and a particular side once every six so there will be some interest and anticipation, say for when the Vics arrive in 2015 for the first time since 2009.
