I think it's great they can wear that guernsey personally

Well done them for sticking to their guns on it - I have never been a huge fan of the Power guernsey always seems like a cheap imitation of the real deal.

Let's re-open the Power v Magpies heritage debate  :D =kidding

It looks fantastic *grabs soap and washes out mouth* I believe that the Power have the right to black and white as much as collingwood and i love the SANFL 100 on their jumper.

Since when did the 1977 guernsey have a sponsors and AFL logo on it?

Apparently the club cant sell it as merchandise due to restrictions put in place by the AFL + collingwood. Hmm, who runs this game? :-k

well firstly i agree they should be able to wear it (just to remind us we 'hate' them) but what gets me is the lines used by their pr department (to increase membership/turnover etc) that we are two different clubs (fair enough), there is two different identities that HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH EACH OTHER :? :? :?

so is it they have nothing to do with each other ?
or is it we are the magpies moved into another competition ?

Check out the other 15 guernseys when heritage round happens. Someone always comes up with this whenever a heritage guernsey is produced. My response is always the same - should we make it out of canvas and have a lace up too?

The intention is to celebrate the heritage of the guernsey - not produce a carbon-copy replica of the original stitch-for-stich, logo for logo.

Good on Port for finally being able to use their beloved guernsey. I think it looks great and they deserve the opportunity.

Let's hope Port supporters are happy and this is one issue that can be put to bed.

Put to bed until next home heritage game when the guernsey will make a welcome return!

Hey that's cool - I reckon they should wear those guernseys every heritage game, I have no problem with that.

Only died in the wool magpies supporters (are alive, and have good memories) are going to like this heritage guernsey.
Not all Power supporters celebrate the 1977 Magpies premiership.
This is not the way to grow the Power membership base and put more bums on seats.
Why would you cling to the performances of a different team in a different competition?...makes no sense.

I agree with alamo here.
Port Adelaide have to find their own national identity and not steal the one that another AFL franchise already bares.
They are the POWER, not the black and white MAGPIES.
Two very different teams.
Why don't they honour the other clubs the POWER are affiliated with in the SANFL???

'cos whatever they say they are the same PAFC from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s, that did try to go it alone into the VFL, with no concern about what it would do to the SANFL and the other SANFL clubs. Anything else is just spin, aiming to broaden their support and finance appeal.

I support them to some extent because they have roots in SA, and my SA roots matter more when I am exposed daily to the pro-Vic. bias over here.

Definatley think that all the heritage gurnseys should be lace up if that is how they were originally!

Yes and all players should wear knickerbockers if we're going back to the very ealry days.

All players must have sideburns and droopy moustaches for 70s week too!

When the POWER decised to wear it during the heritage round.
Plus who said that they can hold the cup that WWT won in last years GF? I didn't say that they could. Port might have won it in 1977, but it doesn't mean that they can hold it.
