CARLTON forward Brendan Fevola will not play against the Demons on Sunday after the club told the 26-year-old to take a week off and consider his playing future.

Fevola gave away two 50m penalties early in Carlton's loss to Fremantle on Saturday, which resulted in a Fremantle goal.

In light of that, a few subsequent bad decisions and his poor on-field body language, Carlton's leading goalkicker in 2007 has been asked to take leave from the club to think about whether he wants to represent the Blues.

Club CEO Greg Swann said Fevola was informed of the decision on Monday morning and will be spoken to again next week.

"This morning the club advised Brendan that he wouldn't be selected this weekend. He's been told to go away and have a think about his role at the club and his role in the team, and we'll touch base with him again on this issue," Swann said.

Carlton coach Denis Pagan said he hopes the high-profile forward's time away from football will result in his improvement as a player.

"We just think it's better for the Carlton Football Club, initially, being Brendan, that he goes away and has a good think about things, and comes back and tells us how he wants to play his football and what we need to do," Pagan said.

Interesting, Pagan will neve ever accept undiscipline at his footy club

WCE, Adelaide, Bullies, Richmond, Melbourne would be the teams interested I would think

Why would you take him with Hall still 2-3 years in him and Thompson 4-5 years left?

I guess Hall is close to or over 30 (?) and Fev around 24 (?) presents a better long-term option with Hall becoming a bit injury prone

Hall played in the 97 GF v Adelaide so must be around 30

The other teams Dutchy mentioned seem to have more of a need but I can't imagine him moving to Adelaide or Perth - maybe he won't have a choice tho

As a Carlton member, long time supporter and Fev fan, I applaud the Carlton Football Club in it's stand.
Fev's body language on field and toward his fellow teammates over the past few weeks has been deplorable.
As a senior player with a very young list, do the next generation of Carlton players like Fisher, Murphy, Gibbs
et al really need to see on field petulance. NO.
The Blues have shown we can kick in excess of 20 goals in a game with minimal input from Fev, so the forward
spectrum looks OK. Just the defensive side of the CFC has to step up.
Good trade bait perhaps for a couple of keys defenders ?

he's had a poor year. Time to pull his head in and get a kick.

He's in my 'supercoach' team. "1" point on the weekend. Thanks

Gee What would a trade for Fev cost?? star player + first rd draft pick. Bit of value for the blues there.... he was drafted with pick in fifty something.

No chance Adelaide would take him, they would have to make a trade to do it!

Sydney and Brisbane are the most likely one would think.

Western Bulldogs? He hasn't actually left Carlton either btw. Nice work getting in yet another Adelaide sledge LOL. I reckon logically the Crows would be the best option if Fev was to leave the baggers.

I would have thought Adelaide would be keen as to get his services. They need a decent key forward.

As if Carlton would let him go.
I couldn't imagine big Lance holding up the goal square and Jarrad Waite is too influential up the ground to be left back at full forward.
All this talk about Bryce Gibbs yet i don't think i've seen him dominate a game this year.
Sure he's held his spot but for a number one draft pick he hasn't shown a great deal of pizzazz, although does have remarkable composure.
Maybe needs another year or two.
Do you think he will end up back in SA?

Big big Lance will go before Fev, almost no doubt about that.
