Reeky Tipping: Round 12

Postby Rik E Boy » Fri Jun 15, 2007 1:39 pm

This week the REB curse will be on the Kangas and the Bombers who I reckon can continue the recent SA gloom in the AFL with victories over the Crows and Power respectively. Six winners in two weeks is reeky reading and two of them were the Cats! After sinking Collingwood and Hawthorn last week I now look to fresh targets.....

Hawthorn will be too good for an improved Carlton tonight at the Dome. The Hawks may have been shut down by the Swans but Carlton won't be about to play The shut down football that stalled Hawthorn's progress last week. Carlton are ranked 2nd in attack so far this season and the Hawks are the leading uncontested side in the league so expect an entertaining game. The Hawks have more talent and will prevail by 29 points.

Kangaroos return to their Gold Coast home away from home and will account for an Adelaide side that is not in tip top shape at the moment and would have rather have had the break this week rather than next. Goodwin hasn't flown and I reckon the Crows won't be flying either as the gritty Kangaroos are hell bent on gaining respect in the football world and are well on the way to doing this with seven wins in the last eight matches. With Daniel Wells retruning, and with the Roos always keen to put on a good show at Carrara, they'll post a 22 point win against the winged Crows.

Fremantle should, might, god knows really get over the top of the Western Bulldogs in Darwin on Saturday night. This game is the toughest of the round. Fremantle stink on the road but the Bulldogs are minus Griffen and Cross and appear a little unsettled. This one is a real toss of the coin job but I reckon that Freo might prevail as the Bulldogs are on the road second week running. This game is a crucial one for both sides but for me it is Fremantle by 15 points.

Geelong in the past have promptly fallen over whenever they have been rated or been precariously perched atop the ladder but this years Cats want to do more than briefly enjoy the view. With nearly a full list to choose from the Cats will have plenty of scoring opportunities against a Brisbane side that has vowed locally to 'open up' their style of play and 'have a crack'. The only thing that will be opened up at Cat Park is the Lions as the Cats bury some ghosts of the past with a bit of retribution against our former nemisis. Geelong by 64 points.

Essendon will do a Geelong and record its second victory at AAMI Stadium against the Power who are more dispirited at the moment than any Port combination I have ever seen. Traditionaly Port sides bounce back from slumps or have at least had periods of dominance during matches in a slump but last weeks laydown against Carlton was a pleasant dream for many, but a rude awakening for Portonians. Tredders has been named for his 200th and it is perhaps his input or lack of that will determine Port's progress in this crucial match. Essendon are riding on the crest of a wave and their veteran player, James Hird is in arguably career best form. Nope, all signs point to a Bomber victory. Essendon by 11 points.

The curse has spoken!

Hawks - found this one the hardest to pick of the round...both teams coming off back to back 6 day breaks so expect the players to be dog tired come the last 1/4....its cause of this I can see the more skill of Hawthorn coming through in the end...if Carlton are 40 points up they aint safe with their game style, but if the Hawks can sneak a few goals ahead they can hold the Blues...plus a few of the Pros are on the Hawks

Roos - Crows are on the road again for the 4th time in 6 weeks, and after a brutal game against Geelong coming off a 6day break plus travel this one aint going to be easy for the Crows...Goodwin out sealed in for me and Wells in is huge for the Kangas..their defence is struggling conceding above the average score against strugglers Richmond, Melbourne & Carlton recently.this one wont be a big margin but tipping the Roos to get the job done

Bullies - Simply I cant tip Freo away from home, really struggled against Richmond and arent playing good team footy, Bullies arent going that flash either but had a training run last week and have the huge advantage of playing a few games in Darwin as well as doing a couple of preseasons up there in the heat...again a close one but Bullies for me

Geelong - Agree with REB, Thompson might find this a good opportunity to manage the minutes of his better players here so might not be the blow out we might expect

Essendon - Port are ordinary, no spirit there at all and Tredrea isnt the type of leader to inspire a struggling club 200 or not, what really worries me is the debutants they are playing, not the time of year you should be playing them...sure they are playing well but thats even more of a sign that the team aint travellling. Bombers have beaten WCE and SYdney the last 2 weeks and while this might have taken a bit out of them they have the 9 day break leading into this game, their midfield dont have the pace of the Powers but will get the ball first so that wont matter...Port have conceded over 100 points in the past 4 games and Essendon are big scorers averaging 101 ppg while Port are conceding 94 ppg, therefore you could expect from these stats that Essendon will score at least 90 points and that would be good enough here..also gain comfort from them scoring 105 points here already this season

good luck all

BUDDY must be out. as i put up in the gambling room that Fev has gone from $6 most goals into $2.50.

that gives the blues some hope...........

but i still believe the hawks have the skills to get over the up-coming attacking blues
