At the end of round 11 Richmond have 0 wins, and two premiership points for a previous draw. If Richmond win the next 11 games, they will have 11 1/2 wins for the season. 12 wins being the usual requirement for a finals place.

So where to for Richmond? Put the reserves players in and at least they can start next year with 11 games of experience. There is not a lot to lose in the scenario and it could well gain the club first pick in the draft!

Richmond's losses in 2007:
- round 1 Carlton 17 points
- round 2 Sydney 16 points
- round 3 Collingwood 25 points
- round 4 Bulldogs 32 points
- round 5 West Coast 23 points
- round 6 Geelong 157 points
- round 7 Port 40 points
- round 8 Adelaide 9 points
- round 9 Essendon 8 points
- round 10 Brisbane DRAW
- round 11 Fremantle 21 points

Take out the Cats debacle leaves a serious of 1-5 goal losses. They aren't as far off the mark as 0-10-1 would suggest.

Especially when their gun small forward in Nathan Brown has hardly been on the paddock all year. Throw in the loss of the ruckmen as well and all is not lost for the Tigers. Will have to improve next year but maybe not all the way into the top eight.

If one player makes such a difference then they DO have a problem, although I admit the ruck loss is a problem.

In addition, Top 5 draft picks can't afford to be works in progress. Tambling is taking far too long. If you have really high draft picks, you have to use them on players who will make a structural difference to the side. Guys like Tambling are icing on the cake.

Tambling will never be any more than a little goal sneek capable of patches in the middle. Will only be an average player IMO.

With the results as shown like that its not all doom and gloom - probably why no one has called for Terry Wallace to be chopped.

I spoke of three players (Brown and the two ruck options in Knobel and Simmonds) not one and the Tigers have shown two experienced defenders the door in recent times as well so it is hardly one player in question here. What you have is an ordinary list minus a few blokes, it doesn't take much of a drop to fall behind the pack in this competition Mac.

They could of lost all their games by a point but the fact remains they were not good enough to register a win yet, regardless of the final margin.
I'd be interested to know the 3 quarter time scores of each game....which sides relaxed in the last to make the margin more respectable to Richmond?
No doubt the loss of the ruckmen and N.Brown have hurt them this year but even with them in the side, they are 8-9th at best with the current list. Trade/dump Pettifer will go a long way to fixing that side.

I read with Interest this week that GREG Miller has been removed from overseeing Richmond's recruiting, with the club now looking for a talent and list manager

Hopefully at the end of 2008 young Edwards will be keen to come back to SA

Simmonds IS a good player, but Knobel is a liability around the ground. And the reason the defenders were shown the door was because the young blokes were deemed to be their equal at least - poor decision by Wallet.

One bloke not mentioned above is Mark Coughlan - a quality player who is sorely missed.
