Blackbirds vs. Catters

I don't mind telling you blokes that when I look at the AFL fixture and I see us drawn to play the Crows at AAMI I write the big L on it faster than Paris Hilton can get her knickers down. We have won only ONCE against the Crows at Adelaide (luckily enough, I was at the ground at the time) in 16 seasons of trying so to say I reckon AAMI should be blown up and that I hate the joint is a bit of an understatement.

Of course my form all year has been to bag the Crows, pay out the rucks for the 900th time and generally underate em as they continue to defy my feeble tipping and win games despite some fairly important outs this season.

This game is a very important one for both clubs. If the Cats can get a second AAMI Stadium victory this year that will make it very tough for Adelaide to finish above Geelong on the ladder IMO. Adelaide has a very tough month of football coming up and will be forced to play at Cat Park later on in the year so they really need to make every post a winner in the home games against Geelong and West Coast as well.

My thoughts are at this stage is that the Crows might just pip us. I can't get my head around the fantasy of Geelong winning two matches at AAMI Stadium in three weeks. Geelong are playing well but not as well as some in the media would have you believe. The Crows are well coached and are the kind of 'shutdown' side that can bring the Cats unstuck. I reckon that Neil Craig might get the Hawthorn v Geelong game tape out and study how the Hawkers shut us down that day.

This will be one tough game amigos. What are your thoughts?

regards,

REB

One of my mates spotted Craigy sitting in the outer making notes at the Power/Cats game.

This one should be a classic! Crows will need to be at their very best and even that may not be enough. I'll follow my heart and pick Crows ... just. [-o<

Cats easily...playing brilliant footy, would back them against WCE in Perth at the moment....Crows coming off 2 road trips will be weary and there once fortress like defence has some mortal wounds....the one team you dont want to come up against when you defence is crumbling is the Cats....

Mind you last year I went tot eh Crows/Cats game to see the Cats crumble by 90 odd points!!!..

Crows will get up in a close one, it should be a good game but not looking forward to the early Sunday start. We have regularly thrashed the Cats at Footy Park over the years but it won't be a big margin this time, Crows by about 3 goals.

Well I thought we would lose to the Dees as that is what we do when a team is down and out and sniffin for a win. Nearly happened against Richmond and Carlton so the writing was on the wall.

Our record against the Cats @ footy Park is pretty good so im hopin for some sort of turn around against a team that has won there last five - any team that beats the Weagles is goin to be tough to beat and have a good form line.

I have tipped the crows only because we must win and losing to the Dees would be hurtin big time - motivation for this week . Surely Mummbles will get across to the players the words respect your opposition as they surley did not do it against the Dees.

Carn the Crows !!!

Geelong should win, but Crows have made a habit of playing just well enough to beat most teams no matter how good or bad they are. I think I'll still tip Geelong though.

Unfortunately, I think the Cats will kill us - but I hope i'm wrong. The Crows have major problems with injuries and are insisting on playing half-fit "stars" rather than fit kids - something they have always done. Mind you a lot of the kids are injured too, which makes me wonder whether the training is just a bit over the top. Bodies need rest and recuperation as well as training.

the crows have the wood over the cats and the play crap at aami. you cant take the port game in any contex because they are pretenders. the crows easily. roo to star in second game back simon goodwin head to head with bartel and mcleod to play on ablett

But everyone was saying the same thing about Geelong before the Port game....IMO you cant look back at a teams record more than 2-3 years especially a young team

Lets disect the Crows for a minute -

-> Lost 3 of its last 6 games
-> Its wins so far against Brisbane, Richmond, Port, Sydney, Bullies & Carlton...only Port are in the 8 from that lot and are fading
-> Lost 2 games at AAMI already
-> 7 of their 10 games so far are against teams in the bottom 8 currently
-> Injury list
-> Poor form of its players in the SANFL

Still a good thing this week?????????

I wish I shared your optimism ... and I hope you are proved right

Unfortunately there's not just the Port game to discount for the cats .... there's 4-5 weeks of very good footy including a win over West Coast for us to worry about

The few things in Crows favour (AKA clutching at straws)
- we have one of the best defensive records in the league
- it's at home
- Geelong historically don't travel well
- Geelong's form-bubble has to burst sooner or later

DANGER game
