Fantastic Half from the Dee's BUT

Crows very ordinary, especially their work rate, the crows have been smashed by the Dee's runners

One continual concern is Craigy's match day coaching, he is too slow to react and make changes

Examples, Edwards on Bruce, Zoomer has won plenty of the footy but Bruce has KILLED us and hurt us with his touches, I would of thought Craigy should of moved either Doughty or Van Berlo on Bruce, also moved Thompson on Green to break the Goddfrey tag

Why not move McLeod to the Middle or Bock to CHB, it's frustrating

Craigy's strength is his belief in his players but it is also his GREATEST weakness

Worst game since the debacle at Subi last year.

The only highlight was Rooooooooo's great goal!

I thought the crows 1 qtr was good, the Dee's came out blazing and we with stood the charge,
our 2nd and 3rd qtr's were very ordinary, we lacked hunger for a contest, our structure was poor and we gave very little respect

Green and Bruce had 66 touches between me, I am amazed that Craigy did not pay those two blokes any respect

Last qtr, improved effort but the game was gone

SAome observations

Mattner, needs to learn how to kick on his right
Forward Structure
Great game by Proplyzia he is the small forward we have been searching for to replace Bode
As stated pre-season I am not convinced Welsh and Roo can play in the same forward line, we also need to find a tall that gives us a real contest in the air, Bock is good body to body, Perrie relies on work rate, Welsh needs a quick lead and lace out delivery, while Steven's does not have the size, none of these blokes are a real threat in the air. Does the Crows look at a Gill, maybe it is stime for Rutten to go forwardor Griffen to play as a Forward, I don't know the answer but we need to try now and not in August or Sept
Players down on Form
Both ruckman were poor today, Hudson gives away too many free's in the ruck contest and Griffen really struggled
Torney, he gets his 12-15 touches every week but he does not hurt sides, his slow legs are a concern
Van Berlo, again gets his 15-20 touches most weeks but needs to go to another level
Bock, maybe needs to go back to CHB to regain some confidence
Welsh, well he needs to find consistency, great one week, missing the next
Positives
Roo, started slowly but got better as the game went, meaning his fitness is pretty good, 13 touches, four shots at goal for 2.2 was not bad, the 2 behinds were set shots which he usually eats
Proplyzia, I love watching him play, great hands, fantastic skills and a real footy brain
Stiffy, again, 19 touches in his second game back, he wll be better for the run
Macca, only 19 touches but showed some real pace of HB and just hits targets, he is the modern AFL Qtr-Back
Goody, 30 plus touches, back to his best

Having just got back from the MCG - all I can say is SD you have it all spot on...
Welsh + Roo are not a match, we can have one - not the other...
Bock - not moving like a fit player.. looks pretty much like he's going through the motions.
Chris Knights - prob his worst game all year (burnt the ball all day)
Hutson is a "fill in" ruckman.. he's filling in while Griffin and Maric and Meesen develop and Biglands is on the side lines
Torney - has lost a yard of pace and doesn't hurt the opposition. From a development point of view, I would prefer to see Richie Douglas getting some game time and learning with a bit of extra speed and better skills (I know he will also make more mistakes though)

We had far too many execution errors today. I think the clanger count would have been about the 40 to 20 mark.. blokes like Knights / Doughty / Welsh / Thompson burnt the ball all day - and I honestly think we missed the hard and quick running of Jericho as much as anything else

One positive above you ones that I found was the form of Scott Stevens when he moved forward - really gave a target and took the game to Melbourne.. He looks like a natural forward and has been good the couple of times he's gone there... I would prefer him up there and McGregor at CHB.. I wonder if McGregor is out of favour at the crows, because he's in out best 10 - 15 when fully fit....

At the end of the day - the Crows are missing their best ruckman (Biglands), best forward option (Hentschel) and best out and out match winner (Burton) - you have to take this year for what it is at Crow land.. development of the younger players... I didn't expect a top 4 finish at the beginning of this year and am wrapped with a 6 - 4 start given the injury list... They are primed for a good 2nd half of the year to be a 3,4,5,6 placed team - which is better then I anticipated.
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

scaffidi can't drive
mate, I am pretty aligned to your thoughts, Craigy needs to get the structure right,
Forward Line
Talls
not sure on Perrie's situation but Craigy needs to find Two talls that can change between CHF and FF, I would persist with Bock, but with Perrie injured, it may be time to look at Gill.
Mid Size leading Forward
Roo has been penciled in for this role for couple of seasons now, so where does this leave Welsh, I don't believe both players can play in the same forward line, but i expect Craigy will persist.
Forward Floater
Burton, Jericho and Stevens are ideal in this role, as a third or fourth forward, these players would be hard to match up on and can rotate through HB or the wing
Small Forward
Proplyzia has been outstanding in the past couple of weeks and has made this position his own

Rucks
We need to find a ruckman that gives us more around the ground, Hudson started the year strongly but his past few weeks have been down, whilst Griffen will be a player of the future he still needs plenty of time and development, other option is Maric, but I am not expecting too much improvement in this area

Backline
All pre-season Jonas and the coaching staff promised us something different with the back 6, well it's been pretty much the same. CHB is a concern and I can't understand why Kenny has not been selected, Torney is too slow, a development player such as Douglas or Hinge would be a better option or even go with an experience player like Massie, who has the flexibility to push to the midfield, we also need to find a way to release Stiffy to the midfield

I am not convinced we are playing the right players, especially the right players in the right positions

Big month in front of us, Cats, Kanga's, Eagles and Hawks

This comment seems to be being made more and more after the premliminary final loss last year. I think that if the Crows do happen to make the finals this year then it will become more apparant if this is the case or not.

Jericho was unlucky not to be picked, he convincingly won his position last week and has proven that he can kick goals, good goal kickers are exactly what the Crows need at the moment and their misses today cost them the game - again. I think that Jericho can add something to the Crows team in a positive sense and hopefully they will have him back in for next week.

Disappointing effort today ... Melbourne looked good but if we are serious about performing late in September this year we need to win games like today, especially with a tough 4 weeks coming up.

The Crows will go nowhere with McGregor not in the side, he is in your best 10-15 players at least let alone best 22. The best CHF in the side.
