This week in Inside Football, respected football author, historian and dedicated Saints fan Russell Holmesby had this to say in his Editorial in relation to the awful Saints vs. Hawks game. The editorial concluded...

'A Richmond barracking friend told me how he took his 13 year old son to the Adelaide on Friday to watch the Tigers against Adelaide and walked away feeling less than satisfied with the game. The next day they went to the Norwood v West Adelaide game and saw talented young footballers doing such weird things as flying for contested marks.

One forward went for a couple of big leaps near goal that didn't quite come off and then hauled in a screamer. It was footy the way it should be played. The kid watching the game told his dad: 'Now I know what you mean when you tell me about the old days"

I wish his dad had taken me along too.'

Maybe this thread should be moved to the SANFL board, or posted there as well. I let the mods decide that one. But one thing is clear. TREASURE THE SANFL. I certainly miss my SANFL footy.

REB
