Another match possession record

792 - between Geelong (403) and West Coast (389), beating the 790 set a couple of weeks ago by Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn.

When will we get an 800 possession game?

Cornesy made an interesting observation on 5AA the other week. He said in his era all the coaches knew that if you had more guys around the ball than the opposition you would win most contests and therefore win the game. The only limitation back then was the players' fitness in keeping up.

Fast-forward to today, fitness levels higher than ever before and interchange bench used more than ever before and Cornesy's theory now in practice. Where will it end? Probably in rule changes eventually.
