New Crows fan group forming at Northern end

The recent cheer squad experiment in the match against Collingwood was pretty much successful as the AFC's head honchos may be offering up 50 seats to us in Bay 114 for the match against Richmond next Friday. Created by some BigFooty members and myself, "Operation: Harden the F*@# Up" passed its first test with a dozen people getting in on the act.

At the moment we're called the 'Gun Club' but that may be replaced with a different name, probably "VB Squad" as in Van Berlo, which is because of a banner we possess.

We're attempting to bring some additional noise to AAMI Stadium, with Centrals/AUFC soccer-style chanting and generally making a nuisance of ourselves to the opposition. We are looking for some extra people to help with the insanity, if you're interested just leave a message here and hopefully we get the free tix.

So far we have about 20-25 people.

Why would we want to follow anything to do with that backward recreational pastime?

The team for all South Australians has a cheer squad called the VB Club LMAO. Nice operational name though.

never been to a AUFC game Tassie?

10,000 fans at the AUFC games make more atmoshpere than 50,000 at AAMI

We've got the numbers now, some more have been lining up to give us a hand as well.

We're going to own that stadium come next Friday. The game against Richmond is going to be our acid test.

If they want noise and atmosphere let people drink in their seats, so they sit in their seats not watch the TV in the bar.

I don't go to a footy game for the atmosphere I go for the footy...

If fans have to create their own "atmosphere" at an AUFC games it speaks volumes for the sport...

Well they will fit in well at Crows games as Bassett, Doughty and Rutten kick the ball to themselves in the backlines for half the match.

Its a good idea though. THe official Crows cheer squad is a laughing stock in terms of cheering. Will be interesting to see:

a) How much noise they do create
b) How many other people join in around them
c) How many people get pissed off with the noise they create around them
d) Given the Crows crowds penchant for going silent when the opposition get a bit of a roll on, if they can help lift the theatregoers in the crowd who only cheer when they are winning
e) How many get kicked out by security
f) How many follow the strict guidelines set by the club of no swearing

Although I find soccer chants at the footy to be quite idiotic at times, I hope it goes well for them.
