SYDNEY coach Paul Roos says it was disappointing to hear fans boo dual Brownlow medallist Adam Goodes every time he had the ball on Saturday night.

Kangaroos fans jeered one of the game's finest role models and statesmen from his first possession to his last.

Goodes was found guilty of striking by the tribunal four days before the game but his good record allowed him to line up at Telstra Dome.

Kangaroos fans voiced their disapproval after a week of headlines on the tribunal's decision.

"It is disappointing but you can't blame the fans, it is often what you read," Roos said yesterday.

"He didn't get off.

"It is very clear that Adam pleaded guilty to striking, accepted the charge. He would have got a week, maybe more, if he had a bad record.

"Sometimes the fans just pick up on that. They just pick on the fact he was able to play. The only reason Adam was able to play is because of his good behaviour."

Goodes was embarrassed by his uncharacteristic clash with Melbourne's Simon Godfrey in Round 5.

It was the first time he had fronted the tribunal.

"Some of the things I read were, 'Why could Adam be found not guilty with that incident? He shouldn't be playing this week'," Roos said.

"He got a week's suspension and was found guilty at the tribunal. I think that was missed through the whole week."

that is a shame when supporters from opposition clubs resort to that type of behavior........

Dr Suess wrote that headline, surely?

These sorts of things happen all of the time though and even though Goodes is one of the 'good guys' (pun intended) it was his turn last week. Drawing attention to it only makes it more likely to happen to him again.
