Richmond historic $1.80 to collect 5th Spoon!

After five straight losses, the 147-year-old Richmond Football Club is at its shortest price in history ($1.80) with Centrebet by May 1 to collect only its fifth wooden spoon in a century of AFL/VFL!

In fact, the Tigers have never been odds-on to finish last after five rounds, even during some of the club’s worst slumps.

Richmond, which won its 10th and last flag in 1980 under Tony Jewell’s coaching and Michael Roach’s 112 goals, did finish equal bottom in 2004 with Hawthorn, collecting only four wins!

“It’s some turnaround, considering Carlton was the early choice for the spoon, then the Kangaroos, and now the Demons are weighing into the mix,” Centrebet’s Neil Evans said. “The Tigers have shown little, and punters are preparing for a four-team war at the bottom.”

Richmond has been quoted at $2.52 to upset embattled Geelong ($1.52) this weekend, and somehow ease the pressure on some nervous players and coach Terry Wallace. The Tigers are an incredible $251.00 to win the premiership, double the price of the struggling Blues!

$2.52 for the Tigers against Geelong could be good value. Their form was better than the Cats on the weekend.

Would have thought Melbourne would be bit shorter than $4.
