Not at the MCG, since 1991 if we are talking about that sort of record. I remember North Melbourne and Fremantle getting only 12,000 odd without looking it up, in about 2000.

Edit: 12,400 in Round 12 2000.

I was there today. Melbourne were insipid, injuries to key players notwithstanding. Looks like it's going to be a big year at Buller. Headland got booed all day. 28 possessions, 3 goals and BOG.

I went to Bulldogs v Freo at Optus Oval a few years back and there was less than 10,000. Spelly would have the figure on that one.

In Fitzroys last year (IIRC) didn't they get less than 6000 to one game v Freo at the Western Oval???

Less than 15 000 gives Dutchy's argument that we need to look at other teams than North Melbourne for relocation to the Gold Coast credence...

As reported is yesterdays age by Caro apparently Demetriou, Fitzpatrick and Hammond met representatives of the Gold Coast business and local govt, they were told 10 games in 3 years is tokanism, if you want to be taken seriously by the Gold Caost community you have be here permantly....

Thanks Tassie I wasnt going to say it...

Interesting that the crowd at the GC on Sat was 50/50...there are now 1900 paid up members of the Roos on the GC and over 80% of the corporate boxes were sold for the game...I dont see why 4 games a year (inc NAB cup) isnt a good balance now for the GC...to move there permanently would be premature I believe especially with a stadium thats fits no more than 12,000

The Gold Coast seems to be seen as a threat whereas maybe it's an opportunity for a stable financial future that clubs other than the Kangaroos (if they want to stay in Melbourne) might look at if the AFL make it worth their while.

If I was a business person in the GC I would also think that 3 games is a case of having your cake and eating it too (a foot in both camps) and would push the AFL to find me another alternative if the Kangaroos aren't ready. That's assuming the GC are all geared up and ready to go and a 12,000 capacity stadium doesn't seem enough to me?
